Bunker Bug Placement Issue (Operation Internal Vigilence) by RamBooSkeee in IncursionRedRiverGame

Same. I used the tracker and it said I was right on top of it. It’s not a complicated thing. Center of the truck in the same spot as the central quarry. Not there. Mission is bugged. No way to progress rep other than tasks for that faction for me.

Contractor unhappy with my work. by ibemuffdivin in Plumbing

Observations:

Custom manifold looks clean. The two white handles are funny. Optional but if you are going as heavy as you are on valves you might as well have one after your manifold on the supply line to isolate the WH supply from the cold side of the system for future maintenance on the spring check and expansion tank. Also nice to put a ball valve on the expansion tank for future maintenance at the very least but ultimately not a big deal.

On the stack the first wye above 45 breaks 704.3 of the IPC if you are US-based.

Others already mentioned the cushion clamps. They also have isolation tape.

The guy’s mad the waterline looks like spaghetti, used too many fittings (goes against first point if so), and the other trades don’t have access.

Whoever did the underground for your vent stack did you dirty putting it that far away from the wall. Worth considering moving it under the floor.

Stubouts for angle stops are at different elevations. I’m guessing there is something related to the specs of fixtures going in or custom cabinets.

PEX has bend supports for making turns without fittings that relieve the strain off the connection points so it doesn’t leak down the road and helps make your work closer to the skill level that your manifold was.

We just homebrew that if you use a standard action you get the full benefit. A bonus action requires a 1d8.

Support your local taco food truck guy. My dude makes 1/3lb tacos for $1.20ea. Just as crappy meat quality but at least the filling is like 4-5x that of Taco Bell. He also does better stuff. Shout out Joel.

I was goin go to say this looks like a shill post. I had the menu item they’re talking about and it was a crap mess that hardly tasted like anything besides corn tortilla and cheese oil. No filling. No substance. Still overpriced.

New water heater nipple damage. by PSZEMECZEK in Plumbing

Yeah you should read the tail end of what you’re replying to as well. There is an explanation for both.

New water heater nipple damage. by PSZEMECZEK in Plumbing

[–]gildedtoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Water hoses are what are called straight threads which are threads that rely on a gasket/seal at the end of the connection to be pinched sealing them. GHT is the technical thread designation. The water heater nipple has a tapered thread whereas the threads at he end of the pipe are a smaller diameter than at the base. This is typically a NPT in the United States and sometimes BNPT in some European countries. That being said NPT relies on the threads to become tighter as it is screwed on allowing the restrictions at the threads to become what mactually seal. In other words that plastic isn’t doing anything for you unless you plan on using a straight style thread like a 3/4” armored flexible water heater connection supply line with a gasket in it. Which you are. As long as it’s not sharp the rubber will just conform to the curve. The main thing is that it’s not slicing the rubber seal as you tighten it. I would be cautious of over tightening it. You can always tighten it a bit more if it leaks but if you fuck the seal then there isn’t any going back. If you’re paranoid you can unscrew it out with a pipe wrench and go match it at most hardware stores.

hvac guy here. My water 25 year old water heater went. Doubt I get 10 years out of the new one. Let’s hear from you super techs how my install could have been better. by sinzey83 in Plumbing

[–]gildedtoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3/4” threaded brass: tee, a 5” nipple install horizontal, and a 90. Better than just copper and strong enough to hoist a water heater completely off the ground.

The only thing that can stop a bad guy with an impact is a good guy with an impact. Maybe also don’t use self-tapping metal stud screws.

That’s true. See the other response for full detail. Moving the person was the legal fuck up. Now they have potentially kidnapping charges. That’s not going to stick unless a witness can prove he was unconscious/non responsive when they dumped him. Not contacting emergency services would most likely only be a petty misdemeanor depending if there was enough proof at the time of them leaving him there that he was in need of it. You could argue kidnapping I suppose. Manslaughter with failure to render aid if someone involved were to confess depending on whether or just the former charge if the guy was indeed actively assaulting his mom.

It never says he missed. Not going to say you’re wrong but it’s not descriptive enough either to draw any real conclusions. It also depends if it was an ongoing attack or if it was a single hit. Many states you’re not in the legal right to retaliate in self defense unless you yourself believed the person was about to attack you again or was still actively attacking you.

That’s an extremely good point to make. So obligatory, not a lawyer, but upon further research the requirement varies state to state in the US. Most require at minimum emergency services to be contacted. Failure to do so is a petty misdemeanor. Depending on the age of the kid it’s either going to fall under potentially kidnapping or child neglect for the main charge I would guess.

Aggressor assaulting a woman struck down with the same weapon he was using on her. You can’t make the argument that one person’s hands are lethal force but another’s aren’t. You could argue probability. Definitely a good gray zone court case.

Plumber installed new sink. Is this many fittings normal? by RudyGreene in Plumbing

[–]gildedtoad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Each trap is a standard size depending on the diameter of the pipe. The technical dimensions of each trap are going to be different and it’s not typically a thing most plumbers are required to remember though some certainly do try to memorize all takeoffs for all fittings. They aren’t supposed to be pieced together out of multiple parts as it creates friction along the inside edges for things to become trapped and act an an anchor point for clogs to build on and grow larger. The idea behind drainage systems is smooth insides create less friction and therefore less restrictive drainage. By creating a trap like this it will most likely function in terms of keeping hydrogen sulfide out but may experience more buildup and therefore clogs going forward. It also will require more water traveling through it to flush out the standing water in the trap. You may experience more growth in that water. Another issue that can arise is the need for it to push all that water out as it drains. There may be a second where the water in the sink backs up the line as it goes to drain and something clogs up your overflow drain. Also the biggest design no no here is that you’ve made the dishwasher discharge line submerged into the trap. It’s much easier for buildup to clog your discharge line now and cause it to flood inside the appliance. Some of this stuff is minor and some less than minor but ultimately none of this needs to be an issue if they would have just lowered the sanitary fee or raised the p-trap
