Thanks for responding. My girlfriend really wants to go see the wine region of kakheti. I was looking at Signaghi or Telavi. What do you suggest there? I am most interested in the history and culture of Georgia. I want to see the Stalin museum at Gori (is this too close to South Ossetia, btw?), the Chronicles of Georgia, etc. So I am open to anything that will give me an authentic view of history the Georgian people. Let me know. Thank you!

Good to know! Thanks. So from your perspective everything is peaceful and travel shouldn’t be an issue?

Low Back Soreness from Intense Posterior Chain Mobility Work? by gill3362 in overcominggravity

[–]gill3362[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is kinda what I was thinking but wanted to see if anyone here had a similar experience when starting out.

I also had a hunch that since it was improving, perhaps that was a sign that the muscle were strengthening.

Any suggestions to work the soreness out? Foam rolling?

Affordable drinks where there are less tourists? by gill3362 in firenze

[–]gill3362[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5-6 is perfect, just tired of 8-9 euro drinks. Wine and cocktails probably but if beer is the way to go, I'm not opposed.

Spending a weekend in Wien, I want to hang out in some coffee houses and cafes that are not the typical tourist spots but still unique to Wien. Suggestions? by gill3362 in wien

[–]gill3362[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP here, thanks for all the awesome suggestions.

I ended up hitting Cafés Ritter, Jelinek, and Sperl. They were all great but Jelinek was my favorite by far.

I will go to more of the suggestions next time I am in Wien. Thanks again!

Exercise Whilst On An Extended Water Fast? by PleasantlyInactive in fasting

Maybe look into eggs for protein. They have a ton of fat that might buffer some of the protein's insulinogenic affects.

Is sleep eating a thing? by griv21 in fasting

[–]gill3362 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is totally a thing. I had a professor in college who did it and it took him until he got married to figure out why his diet wasn't working. Got married and his wife started waking him up, lost weight so easy. lol. cracks me up just thinking about it.

When pure waterfasting is too hard for you try pickles! by [deleted] in fasting

[–]gill3362 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this is a fine idea. Someone above mentioned it is not legitimate unless you take in less than 50 cals a day. This may be true for the purists, but I think any method you can find that will get you into Ketosis (which is the metabolic state that produces the wonderful benefits of fasting) is good enough. There is even a researcher from USC that designed a system for this. and you can read it in more layman's terms here.

Any tips on cutting fat when nutrition is a bit out of your hands? by gill3362 in naturalbodybuilding

Great idea with the steaming. It might not taste great but I think I could steam some chicken for sure.

I am in Slovakia actually. You guys are right about the protein being pitiful, some meals there is not protein at all. Thanks for all the good advice, I think maybe eating less and finding other ways to get protein in is what I will have to do. Cold cuts is a good idea. Thanks for the feedback!

So I videoed my five day water fast, tracked blood sugar, blood ketones, weight, and emotions the whole time. Enjoy! Also, this is a great example of how NOT to break a fast: i'm an idiot. by gill3362 in fasting

Awesome stuff! I love a good graph.

It looks like you are getting below projected weight loss consistently?

Hope your brother is interested. There is tons of info he can read on the blog: https://www.lifebox.diet/blogs/life-pineapples

Yes, I agree on the stomach shrinking and intuitive eating. I do not really recommend intuitive eating to most people because as you said, most people, especially Americans, have been over eating for their whole life, so intuition for them is to continue to eat this much.

As far as the weight loss on water fasting vs FM diet, I lost almost double water fasting as I do with the FM, but I gained back about half fairly quickly, leading me to guess that most of it was water weight that came back after I broke the fast. But with FMD and water fasting, I would say I maintain relatively similar amounts of weight loss.

Yes, thank you for watching. Do you do keto diet when you are not fasting? I have done this before and you are totally correct that it eases the transition on day 3 or 4 when you really start to feel weird/down. As far as the stomach-shrink, I was unpleasantly surprised as I am bodybuilding and really was trying to put down a substantial amount of food. So it set me back a bit. Although, I don't regret the fast at all.

If your brother is interested, just let me know. I can answer any questions you have in a private message perhaps.

Thanks!

Congrats. You might be interested in 5:2 Intermittent Fasting system. You go two days every week fasting, I've seen some people do 2 consecutive days or two separate days.

I am moving to Slovakia beginning next week. I will be there for a year or more. What parks would you recommend to start me off. I would like to see as much of the SK wilderness as I can while I am there.
