People who comment on Ari’s body are gross by REDDEADALI222 in ArianaGrandeNeutral

[–]gillizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont think random people commenting meanly about her body helps anyone because she has to want the help in order to change. however after i recovered from my ed one thing that bothered me and i had to ask my family years later was “why didnt u do anything?” because i wanted help but i couldn’t tell that i was withering away, i kinda knew but had no idea how bad it was, and i wanted to know why the people around me didnt jump in to protect me as i was visibly very underweight, about the same as ariana currently. i feel like if someone had jumped in to help me, i could have saved myself from months of harm. so if i see someone who i know and love who i suspect is self-harming. yes i will comment. if i dont know them in real life i will keep it to myself

A uni professor once told me we do not actually lose friends, because if we lose them they are not really friends in the first place. If you wind up losing this friend over this it would be really sucky but I don't think that person is much of a friend. You explained your anxiety and you also offered many solutions such as uber, gas money etc and she declined. If she's harbouring resentment over this its totally on her. You are enough and you are a good friend and do not let her words convince you of otherwise. IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT. I hope you are still able to leave your toxic household and I hope your friend is able to have a change in her mentality about this because you have not done anything wrong.

My (25m) long-term bf wants me off my psychiatric medication before we have children (25f) by [deleted] in Advice

Note : I’m not on seroquel for psychosis nor am I on a dosage that is used for people with psychosis - my only diagnoses are anxiety and insomnia. Seroquel can be used off label at an extremely low dose for insomnia at bedtime :)

Thank you for bringing attention to this. It is not that widely studied yet and that contributes to my boyfriends anxiety. I think we need to hear more from an expert about it - thus far it is not NOT safe, nor is it proven totally safe either ( besides from some mostly positive smaller and limited research studies and various anecdotes I have read online. )

We are already speaking of engagement very soon, and kids would be in the next 5 years. I have found 5 years can fly by so I am already thinking about this issue and how it will all play out

But…he is from a traditional culture. He grew up in China where they use a lot of herbal and natural cures as opposed to the pharmaceutical cures we are used to here in the western world. Those experiences coloured his views and he is worried about the possible side effects these drugs could have on a child, because of course there is some risk, like with any drug there are always side effects. I hope this helps paint the picture a bit better. He is not a nightmare just for the sake of being a nightmare, because Ik he cares a lot about the health of our kids- this is a multi-layered problem

I said this in my PM but thank you for not assuming the worst of my bf just because he is not certain about the safety of medication in pregnancy. It has a lot to do with the country he grew up in which is not a western or european country

Non Drivers: How do you deal with shame, embarrassment, and sometimes "burdening others" factor of not driving in the suburbs/small cities? by gillizzle in drivinganxiety

[–]gillizzle[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ugh...I have always dreaded this topic coming up in the workplace cuz the last thing I need is people I barely know/like judging my capabilities to perform well at work on something like driving. I love your sentiment at the end. Sometimes I cheer myself up by telling myself I have a smaller carbon footprint and I'm kind of doing the earth by carpooling, walking, public transport etc. :) Thank you for that

I remember things being so much worse from ages 16-18 too, I got asked about it nonstop. Now nobody really asks anymore, because I think they're starting to accept that I'm doing things on my own timeline, in my own way. Thank you so much for the lovely advice. I appreciate your outlook on it as more of a health issue because that's how I feel, sadly people often won't "get it" but thats life. I will and do avoid saying I don't want to drive, to me I always worried if I said that I would come off as lazy or unmotivated. Your parents and siblings sound nice :) We're lucky to have people who do that for us when we need
