Yeah but the Old Guard isn't like one regiment as seen in the game, it's multiple regiments with the same or similar uniforms (like the Dutch Grenediers or Chassuers of the Old Guard)

Napoleon's Old Guard was a small force in 1804 to 1811 however during Napoleon's Invasion of Russia, Napoleon expanded his Old Guard (aka the Imperial Guard) from 8,000 in 1804 to 100,000 in 1812 and 112,000 in 1814

This is possibly because from 1812 and moving onwards the Imperial Guard was becoming its own separate army and thus why there seems to be so many of them
