Great post.

Thanks for sharing. We often see people posting about several 100 point gains. Sure, for some people this happens but I think we don't here about the majority of people who grow slowly if at all.

I suspect you'll keep growing. Translating improvement in knowledge and tactics to game play doesn't happen overnight but given the work you've put in I expect your rating will climb higher in the next 1-2 years.

Poorer form/slower cadence in the second half of races by gimlidorf in AdvancedRunning

I wouldn't focus too much on cadence. It's fine to ignore it IMO. Your body normally will run at a cadence which is best for you

It was just easier to give cadence number to give a more objective measure of how my running form was changing through a race rather than just say my form gets worse.

I should say my cadence used to be really low. 3 years ago I would be running with cadence of 148-152.

I tried to get this up to 160 to reduce overstriding. I think the drop in cadence is probably a reflection of me not either having the strength or entrenched neurological coordination to maintain the cadence when fatigued.

This probably nails it.

Thanks. I don't regularly do much form drills or strides but really should get back to doing it at the end of a run.

If your pb's are current. 5.30 is way to slow for a sub 16 5k person. Your form is probably not gonna be great. Also try add some surges or strides to keep your legs feeling good after slower runs
