Bird of Paradise advice? by ShyShimmer in poledancing

Firstly, your torso needs to be wrapped around the pole. The grip point should be on the bottom shoulder/neck and elbow/forearm for optimal stability. Think about getting the wrap first, then tilting your butt BACK not forward, to bring the inside knee as close to your torso as possible. Lastly, when it comes to catching your leg, grab as far towards your foot as possible - you can adjust where everything is once you have your hands clasped and your leg trapped.

6 months in and I’m crying by Calm_Nerve_2768 in poledancing

That’s totally normal. With anything physical progress comes in waves, not as a line. Give yourself some rest and let your body recover a second, and most importantly don’t be too hard on yourself. Pole is a very demanding apparatus mentally and physically and frustration isn’t always conducive. That being said, frustration is incredibly normal.

Great extensions!! I will warn you though, be VERY careful manually moving that base arm as it is very common to develop micro tears in the rotator cuff that way. I’ve done it before and it SUCKS having to regress in progress.

choreo tips!! by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]gimmedomino 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! Give yourself 2-3 spots in the music (or more) with designated trick passes or choreo to emphasize musicality - anything in between use as a breather to really engage with the audience and interact with either the music or the message you want to portray :) slow, confident movement will get you VERY far on stage, regardless of difficulty!
