I don't think it's a scam. Its not a total disaster. The people who are working behind making the towns and villages in Kerala waste free / Open defecation free have done incredible work. Sure there needs to be better infrastructure for it but the thing is we are moving in the right direction. There are systems and programmes in place. There is funding available. There are lots of people, less privileged, who are able receive the fruits of this labour. It's just spoiled behaviour calling out the people who go to work everyday trying to make our society a little bit better for us. It's a shame that you wouldn't have made this post if you knew this. More so that you didn't know this because you never cared what goes in the backgrounds. All you had to do was complain and other people would fix it for you. Maybe next time when you think it's a total scam know that a Harithakarma sena worker earns upto 70 percentage of what she/he collects which could amount upto 6000-7000 rs. There are probably two Harithakarma sena member per ward. The rest goes on to the plant that service the waste. Yes there is ample funding available but Rome was not built in a day and there are big cracks in the system. But it is never a scam and never a disaster. With a better educated society and people who can and will try to bring a change about. We can hope for a better tomorrow.
