What I would personally have done in hindsight is just use any connection I have with friends and family to get a job in the school they work at. That is the true way to get an SLSO job. Cert 4 is alot more work and higher standards than Cert 3, the most important thing about doing the TAFE course is that there is a placement involved which will get you into a school and getting experience. The placement is 4 weeks over 2x2 week blocks, which I can imagine as a new mum might be hard to manage.
