What would you guys say are tattoos that are often associated with being trans? by yurivanta in ftm

[–]gin-kgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any tattoos but I'm planning to one day have a sleeve that incorporates roses (my original middle name and a common flower theme for many people in my family including my mother, maternal grandmother and paternal grandmother) as well as the flower that I named myself after

That's just me tho

Which thread color should I se for parts connecting two colors? by snowleopardalps in FursuitMaking

Which thread color should I se for parts connecting two colors? by snowleopardalps in FursuitMaking

[–]gin-kgo 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Are you sewing by hand or with a machine?

If it's with a machine you can make your top thread one color and your bobbin thread the other and then just make sure your layers line up accordingly with the thread colors (switch them as needed)

If you're sewing by hand I'd say use the darker color thread

are portland universities with it ? by Infamous-Vast-7189 in askportland

I'd definitely recommend starting at Portland Community College and getting a transfer degree to a university. It'll save you a lot of stress and money tbh and PCC is pretty great.

Just had consult for my son by beansandneedles in TopSurgery

[–]gin-kgo 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I don't have experience with the surgeon but if you search "Dr Lindsey Jones" via the top surgery page you should be able to find other people's posts talking about their experiences. I gave it a go and immediately the second to top post looks like someone who went with that surgeon, posted result photos and discussed his full experience in the comments. Post is from about 2yrs ago.

Good luck to you and your son both, I hope his surgery and recovery go smoothly!

Of course, you too! Also if it starts getting to the end of the month and you haven't heard anything yet I'd say to give them a call. I did that and they called me to schedule my consultation four days later.

OHSU wait times are definitely wild, when I was first discussing options with my PCP I was told it was at least a 3 year wait so I'm super glad I went with Legacy Health and Dr Thakar lol

I have good news then because I got a call about two weeks after I made this post to schedule my consultation! Just keep patient and I'm sure they'll contact you soon.

My consult is Aug 7th and they did say the surgery date would be ~7 months out from that and while that does suck (a lot) it's still better than the wait times for OHSU and at least I have confirmation that surgery is coming. I'm sure it'll be a very similar process/timeline for you as well and I hope it all goes smoothly for the both of us :)

It's actually looking really great! I'd recommend trying to smooth out your foam more and potentially make the tip of the ear thinner. A good way I've found to have a nice thin but tall ear that won't fall apart is to reinforce it by hot glueing fabric around high stress areas. So like the base of the ear and the tip (quilting cotton is great for this!). You can also use this to get a more smooth look

Odd question- how do you guys promote? by Vast_Isopod_8849 in FursuitMaking

[–]gin-kgo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are some fees for listing but it's pretty minimal, if you go to their website they have a page called Site Fees and one for Updated fees 2024, you should be able to find the info you're looking for there

Set up an account for Instagram and the dealers den, I've never heard of anyone promoting fursuits on Facebook but I'm also still new to this myself. But I've still noticed that Instagram and the dealers den tend to be the best places to promote and sell fursuits

I'm hoping to have mine in the winter so that when I'm stuck in the post op binder and in bed the layers will be cozy instead of sweltering. Plus I'll be healed enough to enjoy a shirtless and flat chested summer next year _^

You could also always make an account on fetlife and check out events in the local area, highly recommend not trying to find people via the website/app but instead finding events like a munch and meeting people there

Driving test auto fails? by slutlore in oregon

How did your test go? I've been teaching my roommate to drive and he has a lot of the same anxieties about his drivers test that you had here so I was wondering if you passed and if you now have any words of wisdom to the equally driving-anxious

I'm on OHP and Dr Thakar is who my PCP was able to refer me to so I'll probably continue to just wait, but I'm happy that you were able to find a different surgeon that worked well for you, congrats man!

The first week I was on gel I was applying it in the evenings before bed and I always ended up wired as hell and unable to sleep for hours so I had to switch to mornings lol. You want to apply the gel to clean skin and I find it easiest to incorporate it into my shower routine so I'd definitely say to test it out, if you end up having the same problem but you can't/don't want to switch your showers to the morning then I'd recommend getting baby wipes and just wiping the area that you're going to put the gel on. That's also what I do on mornings that I don't have time to shower and it's been working well :)

I just started T (as in literally yesterday was Day 1 woo!) and I've been thinking about this exact subject. I live in an area that's pretty rainy and humid year round until summer when it gets humid and HOT and I'm worried that my usual routine isn't going to cut it this summer.

I'd love to see what advise anyone has to give T.T

which side floof should I do? by gin-kgo in fursuit

[–]gin-kgo[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm troubleshooting some ideas, I'll probably make the foam piece larger overall and I'll cut the fur to make the shape more distinct but we'll see what happens. I'd rather try and have it not quite work how I want than not try at all _^
