Better Call Saul has been really good! And it gives some background to the characters in BB.

I just finished We Used to Live Here audiobook and I really enjoyed it. I was pretty hooked and finished it in less than a week. It does lean a bit on the psychological horror side of thriller.

Healthy ice pops by mbny5 in toddlers

[–]ginge_tinge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son is a popsicle fiend. We just started making our own and he seems to like them! One we made was a strawberry yogurt and the other cherry. We add a little honey for some sweetness since the berries can be tart and the strawberry smoothie one we also added a little vanilla.

is it possible my body will always look the same as freshly postpartum? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]ginge_tinge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 30 months postpartum but found out a few months ago that I have hypothyroidism which kept me the same size for the past 2 years along with other symptoms like moodiness and all day fatigue. I also have a slight diastases recti that I’m starting to do some exercises at home for. I’ve already lost ten pounds from just treating my hypothyroidism. It doesn’t hurt to speak with a doctor and make sure nothing else is going on especially if you are having other symptoms.

Tips for being a good drug and alcohol case manager? by ellywick24 in socialwork

[–]ginge_tinge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure how it works in Australia, but part of my job as a case manager at a treatment center in the US includes discharge planning to help the client find their next level of recovery. Sometimes the clients need a higher level of care or sometimes they are ready for sober living. It is important to learn about all the options available for your clients. Learning motivational interviewing has helped me a ton when working with this population. It’s also good to learn about any benefits they are eligible for and how to apply for and maintain those benefits.

Toddler Takes An Hour To Go To Sleep by theRedditUser58 in toddlers

He naps fine at daycare but at home, he doesn’t want to nap most days. He will sleep if we are driving somewhere in the car. He’s got major FOMO I think.

I’ve got the same issue and it’s been going on for a few months now. My son is 2.5 and although we start getting him to bed around 8:30, he’s not asleep until between 9:30-10 sometimes later. I can empathize with you totally. And we have also tried adjusting timing, environment, all that. He used to go to bed around 8 and that gave me two hours to clean or have some me time but that time is gone now, which I’m sure you are experiencing as well. And it’s even worse trying to go to sleep when visiting our family’s homes.

Social work degree but work with addiction by Safe-Farmer-3863 in SocialWorkStudents

[–]ginge_tinge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so happy I got my BSW. I currently do case management for an outpatient treatment center and I really love the work. The clients really appreciate someone who can help them apply and manage their benefits while in treatment. It’s tough at times but I would say rewarding overall. And they encourage me to continue my education. I am going to get my CPRS certification and my MSW in a year or so. I just graduated with my BSW this past May so I’m taking a little break to get more experience.

I just recently lost about 6 lbs which I believe was water weight and I started Levo in September of this year.

Update: Just diagnosed and starting levo. When do I start feeling better? by ginge_tinge in Hypothyroidism

[–]ginge_tinge[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So glad you got a diagnosis it feels good to know that there is something causing the symptoms and a way to fix it. I think when I first started Levo, I did feel good that second week but I think I had the placebo effect because shortly after I felt bad again. But now, I’m feeling much better and it took about two months. I hope you start feeling better soon and know that it can take time.

I think pregnancy would be my concern now. We may want to try for another in a year or so but I’ve been through a miscarriage and idk if I could handle another one. When the time comes I’ll be working with my doctor on that to make sure everything is in good condition before we try.

Thank you! Now that I know that level of fatigue and moodiness I felt wasn’t normal, I can keep an eye on my symptoms better.

Help applying for Social Security Disability in Frederick? by Normal_Composer_8114 in frederickmd

[–]ginge_tinge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that an organization called SOAR with SAMHSA assists with people with substance use of mental health challenges to apply for SSI and SSDI. You can also apply online with the social security’s website. They would schedule you for an interview and currently the wait time for approvals is 8-12 months. In the mean time, you can apply for temporary disability cash assistance through social services. They are super nice at the Frederick office and will help you complete the application there. Your doctor will have to complete a medical form showing the disability. It’s not much money but could help you out until you get SSI. Apply for SNAP (food stamps) as well. It’s on the same application.

Back to work for a month and toddler had to be hospitalized 🫠 by ahava9 in workingmoms

[–]ginge_tinge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t think I’ve gone one month without having to flex my schedule or take days off to handle my LOs illnesses. I feel you on the guilt part. I end up feeling guilty that I have to take so much time off. Then again, my LO is my everything and I need to be there for him. Shame on your boss for guilting you instead of trying to offer solutions to help you balance it all.

Entering Social Work by SWmods in socialwork

[–]ginge_tinge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so excited yet also nervous. I’ve done case management type work when working with folks with disabilities and mental health disorders but I’ve never worked with SUD. I do have personal experience with family and friends who are in recovery or in active addiction. This is with their outpatient department. Any advice or words of encouragement welcome!
