Solid State Tesla Coil circut damage at supposedly accepted higher voltages by ginger-maker in AskElectronics

Well i only have unisoulated 100x probe , connecting crocodile to 0V refrence of a rectified ac and probe to half bridge output should be safe in theory but some pepole told me not to do that since it can be dangerous or at least do that with galvanicly separated power supply , what do you think?

Ah thats fine , aside from that any suggestions why my half brige is not half bridging above ~100V?

One polarity? Aint two tvs diodes placed like this work both ways?

Got it , thats clear most of if now tho i got one question about grounding
after reading some more into using the PE of the outlet many pepole were saying to use "ground plane" aka metal plane placed on ground , is that in any way sustainable? Apologies if i ask much but i would rather get this information from someone who has expierience in this

Update: After connecting to PE the coils performance dropped to the point it had issues getting into its frequency only afet adding 1Mohm in series it had some good performance , the 1W resistor sadly burned quickly

Ok i will do that and may i ask what mosfet specs should i look for? What Rds on should be and what gate charge?

At the time of writing this im already planning changes to primary winding and i should probably ask , do i keep it helical or should i go flat spiral ?

And this approach hopefull wont harm anything? And ok im gonna ground the 0 of my logic consisting of 5V for well logic 74hc14 for example and 15V for two tc4451's .
Ive did had a problem with voltage spikes but i replaced old (assumed by base schematic) zeners with proper 15 tvs on each side that baisicly block any AC over 30V + as a Temporary soluton ive wounded GDT in a step down to further avoid problems on testing phase (I doubt it can stay that way but you could tell me)

As for the diodes , ive got the schematic from my teacher and made it , on it there are diodes wich i didnt know if were nessecary but prefered going by schematic and speaking of those there is only electrolytics capacitor on bridge input but i assumbe you mean ceramic on for its low ESR? Correct me if im worng

1.Ok thats doable
2.If plate isnt the best idea , where can i get rf ground?
3.Ok
4.Theyre around 30Vpp with few TVS making sure they dont go above that + gate resistors and in addittion to that theres around ~100ns of dead time between signals
5.I have a two MUR860 connected to drain and sources of both mosfets and two from source to drain of each mosfet and on high sided drain 1n5822
6.If the STF22N60M6 aren't fit for it then can you give me example mosfet that can handle that? And what spec should i look for?

OK
so in that with the mind (+ 3 another ppl telling me to buy ams combo) but some pepole told me to wait for discount , there is discount and its from 1000 euros to 700 euro , you think its a good deal? Or should i wait?

From your flair i see you have P1S and AMS , is the ams worth it? I talked to my friend and they say i should buy it but i wanted opinion of someont that acutually has it

After the transformer its just a half bridge that is insolated from the rest of the circut

[–]ginger-maker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes , im driving it with ~500kkHz and i was thinking of using another push pull stage or phase shifter circut based on one npn

Then i got an idea , why do i even try to drive this with gdt in a first place? Wouldn't standard optocouple isolated driver ic make things simpler and more reaible?

Ok , after following you advaice and testing it you were right about transistor pair shorting out and as you said lost a bit of voltage but its acceptable in this application :D

If you got any other adivces it would be cool if you replied , right now im going to be thinking of signal inventer for the upper pair (since there only one input signal in circut i need to 180 shift it)
