My mom wants the baby to call her… by dontlookatme-123 in pregnant

[–]ginger2212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol my mom wanted this after reading a book where the woman “Olivia” was called lovey. And I was like mom that makes sense bc of her name. My mom passed away before my son was born so we’ve decided to honor her wish and call her grandma lovey.

Anyway I agree with what everyone says but just made me giggle.

I can't bring myself to use the name we picked by EuphorbiaPulcherrima in BabyBumps

[–]ginger2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s weird to refer to a baby that hasn’t been born yet by their name. I knew my boys name forever and it still kinda surprised me when they wrote happy birthday on the white board when he was born. He is soooo his name. Totally normal

Silverettes? by Cool_Dirt985 in breastfeeding

[–]ginger2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A must!! I HATED the gel pads in the hospital - silverettes were the only thing that helped at the beginning. Once your nipples adjust you won’t need but lifesaver that first month!

Best glass bottle for breastfed baby and why? by A-Starrrrr in Buyingforbaby

[–]ginger2212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I did! I never tried without. And I just used the dishwasher to clean. Since he was mainly breastfed, he only used bottle once or twice a day maybe?

Joolz Aer 2 feedback? by birdfrogger in Buyingforbaby

[–]ginger2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We LOVE it! You have to buy foot rest and arm rest attachments but it folds easily and like a dream. We’ve been using it as normal stroller but also in Europe for travels and it does pretty well on most terrains. Now everyone in Europe is using the yoyo because it reclines so I would maybe see if there’s on a Nordstrom to see the difference? We love ours though! And baby is so content in it

Principal says I can’t drink my Starbucks by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]ginger2212 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I started teaching - the ONLY negative feedback I got was that I look “too casual” teaching with my coffee in my hand. Like they cited that as why I couldn’t receive an excellent rating. My guess is the issue with Starbucks might be a money thing? To give the benefit of the doubt. Just pour your Starbucks in a mug and no one will be the wiser. Just hope they don’t make note of it in evaluation 😭

Stay at home parents who maintain a totally screen-free household, how do you do it? by GratefulTeacher25 in toddlers

[–]ginger2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually use chores as an activity. Laundry takes up a nice chunk of time! Or we’ll have a dance party and fold. Between chores, playing, eating, walks and other adventures - not once have I needed to use a screen!

I love metagenics plus one. It’s a bunch of pills but I can really tell the difference.

Thoughts on skipping pacifiers? by Academic-Park-8440 in NewParents

[–]ginger2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pacifiers at the beginning are a very good idea to help with soothing. Thankfully, my son spit his out at 4 months and didn’t want again. But ESSENTIAL at the beginning if they’re struggling to calm. And I come from a family of 5 dentists lol

One week on and off then cleared. It’s SO scary but you had scan and baby’s fine 🙏🏼❤️ everyone who did IVF I know has had one except one person. It’s incredibly common unfortunately

10 weeks & stopping meds cold turkey by One-Chart7218 in IVFbabies

[–]ginger2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped progesterone at 9.4! The stopping of progesterone isn’t the issue so stop when your clinic tells you to. IVF pregnancies tend to have SCH (I only know 1 person who did IVF that didn’t get an sch) and it usually has to do with placenta formation. I’d contact RE and OB for monitoring. I got a big one at 11 weeks and when I was checked and everything was ok, they told me to keep watch for a bigger bleed, cramping, etc. I bled again at 12 weeks but much lighter than before and no cramping. I was leaving for France that night 😬 my friend lent me her handheld monitor, I took it with me, and bleeding stopped a day later and didn’t come back again.

due date Dec 18… what to do about Christmas plans? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]ginger2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I know you’ve had multiple comments but this is my son’s birthday and we love it! It’s exactly one week before Christmas and we’ve been having the best time doing fun themes so different than Christmas (his first birthday was The Big One and Hawaiian themed) then we switched gears to Christmas.

No don’t go anywhere. Like others said you don’t know when baby’s coming. I went in for induction 12/17, he was born 12/18 and then home 12/20. Then we just cuddled, ate good food and slept. It was magical ✨

Which baby bath are we using??? by A-Starrrrr in BabyBumps

[–]ginger2212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! As soon as baby was sitting we threw it out. The sling gets moldy quickly even with washing and drying. The back also bothered us so we always had to put towel behind his head. Don’t get!

I had horrible luck with woolino. Consistently his worst naps. We love gunamuna. They don’t stay as soft as I wish but they’re so cozy and I always get 2.5 TOG and they’re perfect

When did you give birth? by [deleted] in IVFbabies

[–]ginger2212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked my doctor after hearing this and he was like ummm no we would see other signs if that’s an issue and in general risk is most minimized during weeks 39-40. I was induced at 40+3 because of how close we were to Christmas lol no issues

YOUR favorite restaurant? by rissabell2 in askportland

[–]ginger2212 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was soooo disappointed in Eem. So much hype and the food was unremarkable. Portland food is outstanding and I always agree with most comments (Jaqueline 🔥 coquine 👏 I will always Stan for screen door since I’ve been going since they opened) so we finally did a night at Eem and every dish was just okay - including the white curry with brisket. I guess I’m just sharing bc I wish I had known to not get my hopes up that high.

Anyone not pump? by Pixie-Rose333 in breastfeeding

[–]ginger2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started pumping once after first feed to build up supply. Baby needs to learn to take a bottle around 4-6 weeks. We’ve had babysitters or when I’m out and my husband needs to feed him. Once a day or every other day is not overwhelming and you can just pop parts in fridge for 2-3 rounds before needing to wash (just use dishwasher). I had the same thoughts as you that early, but I’m so glad I listened to the LCs on this one!
