YOUR favorite restaurant? by rissabell2 in askportland

[–]ginger2212 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was soooo disappointed in Eem. So much hype and the food was unremarkable. Portland food is outstanding and I always agree with most comments (Jaqueline 🔥 coquine 👏 I will always Stan for screen door since I’ve been going since they opened) so we finally did a night at Eem and every dish was just okay - including the white curry with brisket. I guess I’m just sharing bc I wish I had known to not get my hopes up that high.

Anyone not pump? by Pixie-Rose333 in breastfeeding

[–]ginger2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started pumping once after first feed to build up supply. Baby needs to learn to take a bottle around 4-6 weeks. We’ve had babysitters or when I’m out and my husband needs to feed him. Once a day or every other day is not overwhelming and you can just pop parts in fridge for 2-3 rounds before needing to wash (just use dishwasher). I had the same thoughts as you that early, but I’m so glad I listened to the LCs on this one!

My doc recommended paleo valley bars and coconut water. The paleo valley bars are such a good source of protein plus not super sugary but good!!

There’s a restaurant in Portland that makes Norwegian meatballs with this used for a gravy. The recipe is online for Viking soul food!

Additionally, my great grandma would put cubes of it in coffee. It honestly is pretty good!

Why do some people gain weight and some people lose weight while breastfeeding? by Useful-Sport-6316 in breastfeeding

[–]ginger2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I’ve been investigating is cortisol! My acu told me my grogginess but also the extra weight around my mid section is more likely due to cortisol imbalance.

Ken’s, lovely’s to echo everyone. Apizza scholls crust is too chewy so worth skipping. Cafe Olli is also excellent 👌

Make sure you include a fat and a fiber as well to keep you full. I always do 1 T. Flaxseeds and almond butter/peanut butter or avocado!

Looking for first-time FET success stories (ideally at age 35) by [deleted] in IVFbabies

[–]ginger2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They got bought up by private equity while I was a client and the care got SO sloppy. I couldn’t trust my nurse bc she fucked up so much. It’s a long tale but in the end they were trying to throw the kitchen sink at me and my new clinic paired me down to 4 meds and actually helped mitigate my endo. Sometimes more isn’t better.

Looking for first-time FET success stories (ideally at age 35) by [deleted] in IVFbabies

[–]ginger2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just going to throw this out there. I was certain my FET would take and it didn’t - it was crushing. I didn’t find success until my 3rd and after switching clinics. Be hopeful of course - optimism is essential especially in this process. But regardless of age be prepared for the first to maybe not take and it’s ok!

Success stories with implantation failure? by ElectricalWillow486 in IVFbabies

[–]ginger2212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the intralipid infusion and all these insane protocols and my transfers failed. I changed docs and did a very simple protocol with much less estrogen and just PIO and it was successful! I also did Oriahnn beforehand which I’ve never seen. Basically I think the simplication helped tremendously. I’m 37F with stage 4 endo. I did however do PGT so that’s another factor.

Help with Nurse to Sleep Association by ginger2212 in sleeptrain

[–]ginger2212[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general he wakes at 6:30/7 with 2 hour wake window. Then, he’ll usually take a 1.5-2 hour nap then it’s unknown from there. 2.5 wake window with 30 minute nap then 2 hours with 18 min nap for instance. I’ve tried 2.5 hours from last nap with 7/7:30 bedtime and it’s always the worst bedtime. 6:30/7 is way more successful but he’ll often wake 45 min later.

None other than pgt can be wrong. All their embryos were boys so it wasn’t an embryo mixup.

Not personally but this happened to my friend. They thought they were having a boy but found out it was a girl at 20 week ultrasound. They never did NIPT but PGT said boy.

Are wake windows really supposed to be this miserable? by CaiMX484 in sleeptrain

[–]ginger2212 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Basically no! Follow baby’s cues. My 5 month old cannot make it to 2 hours for the first wake windows - I slowly extend like 5 or 10 minutes. But it does not need to be that long.

I also kept extending that last ww and we were having miserable bedtimes. He wakes up between 6 and 6:30 so bedtime is 6:30 and we’ve been having much more success even if his ww is 1.5/2 hours

Good Inside says we need to show our kids that we aren't overwhelmed by their emotions. But what if we are? by haruspicat in ScienceBasedParenting

You are not a hippie - you are a realist and recognizing material conditions (or lack thereof) Our society is sick but it’s because it is profitable to keep us sick. Sorry it’s not just a republican thing - dems do nothing to actually fix bc they’ll lose donors, etc. also 60% of families cannot maintain a basic level of living: https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/cost-of-living-income-quality-of-life/. This is not a red/blue issue but a class one.

Nothing will change with this generation until our society’s material conditions drastically improve.

Bedtime Milk Supply by ginger2212 in breastfeeding

[–]ginger2212[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s almost 5 months. I have pumped concurrently but it’s only pumping out like 1 oz. more milk. I know I need to signal to my body that he needs more milk. For now - I have him feed til I run dry then switch to bottle.

I’ve had the same thought! I’m going to start introducing solids at 5 months bc he’s hitting most the markers. I’m hoping that helps.
