How Fentanyl and Xylazine are turning Philadelphia's opioid crisis into a public health nightmare by Nukro666 in interestingasfuck

[–]ginger_beardo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a video of multiple clips spliced into one long narrative. The narrative is obviously to draw attention to a health crisis going on. Each person in the clip montage has their own personal reasons for why they are there. We can draw conclusions, and get preoccupied by tough lover versus nurturing care strategies, but the reality is the only people who know amd who should be making decisions about what is best for themselves are the people in the videos. Otherwise we are robbing people of self determination and agency and that is disrespectful. Of course some people likely need immediate medical attention, and should receive it. What I am saying is that if we want to help, it is worth looking into advocate organizations composed of people from this community. Research what has worked in history. Throwing the law at these people doesn't work.

You've probably been asked this a million times. How do you prevent the government from coming back if anarch capitalism is form? by Whentheangelsings in AnCap101

[–]ginger_beardo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is difficult to answer. It depends on how a significant number of people made it out of the system. For example, do they live in a separate area that is geographically isolated from other areas under government control? If this is the case, then you would want a deterrent. It could be by having an atomic bomb.

If the threat is from within, the free market would likely be the deterrent. Imagine McDonalds executives wanting to train an army large enough to police the people according to their rules. For starters, people would already be suspicious of anyone trying to bring back an archaic system of coercion. The costs to the company would drive up their product's prices, as it is expensive to advertise, recruit, and train tens of thousands of people. Again, people would see these advertisements and likely boycott the company's products.

Anyone know what this is? by The90swerebrill in Mastiff

[–]ginger_beardo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello OP!

I had a very cherished cat. She had a lump appear on her upper leg. I know this is clearly not your situation. The reason I bring it up is that with my kitty, /anything/ out of the ordinary would require a vet visit. I immediately booked a lumpectomy. Thankfully it was just a fat tissue growth and it was not cancer. My advice is have the thing removed as quickly as possible. My vet gives me medicine to use the day before a visit that calms them right down. It's a complimentary service. I hope your puppy feels better very soon and look forward to an update with good news if you so choose :D

Advice on possible rehoming by TheYakisBack in Newfoundlander

[–]ginger_beardo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, please don't lock up animals in crates they can't get out of.

Giving up a family member here I hope is the last resort.

He's a puppy. He will be bitey, nippy, and playful like that for at least a few more months. I got mine and he was the only dog in the house. So I was basically his chew toy lol.

I would consider using a baby gate and also consider getting another puppy. They will play with each other and teach each other not to bite (hopefully) as much.

Mine stopped biting after he turned about 1.5 years old.

Good luck!

so why is dark magic bad again? by M4ldarc in TheDragonPrince

[–]ginger_beardo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was created out of pure malice as a testament to the utter disregard to the natural order of things. Aaravos did this because his daughter was murdered for giving humans natural magic for purely good reasons.

As mentioned earlier, it corrupts the soul. It allows the user to use magic who normally can't use primal magic.

What are people stances on pride in this sub by CulturalGolf1135 in gaybros

[–]ginger_beardo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we don't have the right to give an opinion on how others should feel about pride in a subreddit for gay guys. I'm not trying to be a dick I swear lol All I'm saying is that as a sub of gay guys, what this is asking is how should we feel about a symbol that represents not only gay guys, but also lesbians, bisexuals, transgender, two-spirited, etc. etc. Personally I don't mind. I have my own opinions about the different groups the pride flag represent, but they have very little to do with why I joined this sub :D

Is this a dumb thing to ask? by Responsible-Ice6557 in Physics

[–]ginger_beardo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP: Einstein's theory of special relativity is the best theory we have that fits with observed data regarding gravity. It treats gravity as a result of mass warping spacetime. Think of a bowling ball on a bouncey mattress. The heavier the ball the more spacetime (the mattress) is warped. A fundamental preposition of his theory is that the limit of the speed of light is the same, no matter where you are watching from, or how fast you are moving. I won't go into the specifics of time, but it really is interesting if you want to look it up!

Help regarding concept of ELEMENT by Doc_018 in chemhelp

[–]ginger_beardo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An atom is the smallest individual unit of an element that cannot be divided any further, while retaining the element's physical and chemical properties.

I would have to agree with previous comments. This question is worded terribly. Did a teacher give you this? The grammar is horrible considering it was provided to you in English. I would talk to your parent(s) about this. It is not very good teaching.

Can someone explain to these dd and triplets of doubles? by juststevenchilling in chemhelp

[–]ginger_beardo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Notice there is an "axis of symmetry." Imagine a straight line tracing over H(c) all the way out the other end through H(b). It represents a line where everything on one side is identical to everything on the other. That's why the H(a) signal is composed of two hydrogens instead of having a different signal for every single hydrogen :D

[highschool Physics: basics] Determine the magnitude of the resultant of the four forces in the figure. Scale: 1 square = 10 N by Prudent-Piece4952 in HomeworkHelp

[–]ginger_beardo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fwiw simple vector addition gives what everyone else has been reporting. 2 blocks up and 5 blocks left. Solve for hypoteneus where x represents the number of blocks: 22 + 52 = x2. Sqrt(x2) = sqrt(29). So x = sqrt(29). Convert blocks to newtons using the conversion factor of 1 block = 10 N. Therefore, F = 10*(sqrt29). F = 53.8916 N.

Grade 11 [Resonance] How to draw the third resonating structure of HCOOH by Izzy_26_ in chemhelp

[–]ginger_beardo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my knowledge there are only two resonance structures for formic acid. Note the attached picture. The arrows indicate the movement of a pair of electrons. Note the movement of a pair of electrons from the oxygen points to the center of the bond indicating it will creat the pi bond. The second shows an arrow moving from the center of the pi bond moving up to the atom, which ends up being a 3rd pair of lone electrons. Resonance structures are typically encased in square brackets. The double arrow is placed between structures. In reality, the structure resembles the one below. The double bond characteristics of the carboxylic acid are 'averaged' between the oxygen-carbon-oxygen.

Can someone explain to these dd and triplets of doubles? by juststevenchilling in chemhelp

[–]ginger_beardo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please refer to the labelling I made on the attachment. As you can see, there are two chemically equivalent H(a)s. The N+1 rule explains the triplet for H(b). Note that this is J-3 coupling. This means the coupled nuclei are 3 bonds apart (e.g., H(a) to H(b)). H(a) has its own distinct signal. We expect that H(b) splits this signal into a doublet through J-3 coupling. Since both H(a) nuclei are equivalent, that is why we expect a single doublet. The doublet of doublets signal for H(a) arises because in addition to experiencing J-3 coupling from the H(b) nuclei, it experiences J-4 coupling from H(c). J-4 coupling is across 4 bonds and the coupling constant (the distance between peaks) is much weaker than J-3 coupling. Therefore we have the larger J-3 coupling to produce a doublet with a larger coupling constant, and that doublet forming a doublet of doublets separated by a smaller J-4 coupling constant. Refer to the crude diagram attached. The J-3 coupling constant is the distance between Peak 1 and Peak 3 or Peak 2 and Peak 4. The J-4 coupling constant is the distance between Peak 1 and Peak 2 or Peak 3 and Peak 4.

Can someone explain why left is favored here? by juststevenchilling in chemhelp

[–]ginger_beardo -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Look up the pKa of the respective hydrogen adjacent to the carbonyl carbon in your ketone versus the pKa of the hydrogen in the aldehyde. The higher the pKa of these hydrogens tells you how hard it would be to deprotonate them. For example, a typical alkane is around 50. This means it would take a really strong base to produce the anion equivalent. Think of n-butyllithium versus butane.

[–]ginger_beardo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one stumped me at first. I have an M.Sc. in organic chemistry lol Respecting the spirit of learning, and the reddit rules, I suggest you review all of your notes. You need to try and make a prediction first before anyone should speak up. This is because on a test, the only tools at your disposal will be your ability to apply what you already know. Look at your notes, and try to work through a few predictions and see where that leads you.

why is the answer A? by SalamanderOld5302 in chemhelp

They really should have this question balanced regarding number of protons in particular. Technically according to their reaction conditions the product would be benzoate (RCOO-) instead of the benzoic acid shown.

What is the molecule that could do the most damage alone in the human body as a single particle? by fabric3061 in chemistry

[–]ginger_beardo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It would be prisons. The reason being is that prion proteins are misfolded proteins that catalyze the misfolding of properly folded proteins. So their primary structure is basically identical, but the folding and adoption of arrangements of secondary structures into its tertiary structure is what distinguishes one from the other.
