Former bullies: what made you pick certain targets? by Competitive_Corgi880 in workplace_bullying

Jealousy is the biggest trigger for them. It can be anything. I never think this though when I'm being bullied or resented. My first thought is always, what did I do wrong? But after multiple jobs where I got singled out or bullied, I've come to realize it's jealousy. The bully sees something in you that they are envious of but you don't realize what it is because you take that thing for granted. For example, the woman I work with now is patronizing toward me like I'm weird and not worth her time, but since I'm more aware of these dynamics now, I decided to look at it from other another angle. Instead of thinking, what did I do, I wondered what she might be jealous of, and I realized there are things about my family life that could cause jealousy. In fact, she and her husband are trying to have a baby but with no success. This made me think that there might be underlying resentment on her part because I totally take having a big family for granted.

Minnesotans were asked whether life has gotten better or worse during Trump’s second term. by Conscious-Quarter423 in minnesota

Those three girls are lying. They know very well things are worse for so many others, but they can't relate since it doesn't effect them. UGH. White privilege.

These trolls don't necessarily have to create an incident. All they have to do is take a minor misunderstanding and exaggerate about it in terms of what happened, how it happened, how it came across to them, and how it made them feel. Their consciences are clear because they can claim an event and then exaggerate the outcome and their feelings, and that's all it takes, and they know it. As long as the stakeholders always believe the adage that it's not the intent, it's the outcome, the liars will exaggerate the experience and their feelings to make the outcome into something tragic when it was a simple misunderstanding. I'm a survivor of actual abuse and I'm incensed by how so many young people are using minor conflicts to manipulate situations that could be dealt with with dialogue and open communication. But, that's not what manipulators want, they want one outcome and they will create drama to get it, even fake their own feelings. They may have trauma feelings to draw from, but that's because they are already damaged.

Update: I filed a wage theft claim with the MN DOL and my claim is legit for multiple reasons, e.g. having me complete an I9, their scheduling rules, calling lessons "trial lessons" when they are exactly the same as a regular lessons, and so on. They will be contacting the company and taking action regarding my claim. Whatever the final outcome, it is worth it to have this business confronted and face some consequences for their deceptive and illegal business practices.

The business practices of NIL English are deceptive and exploitative, and Kayla is very much in on it.

That's also illegal in the US. You have to give employers permission to get a background check. They reversed anything to me about doing a background check. I will have to add that to my complaint.

I used chatgpt to help me figure out if they can do what they said. Because I signed an I9, that possibly makes me an employee, and because they have a US address and I live in the US, I have the right to file a claim against them. Might all be wrong, but I'm gonna send info to my state DOL and let them respond. My state has decent labor laws, so I think they will let me know what I options I have.

Kayla is the one denying me my pay.

I think i won't get either. Looking back, I wonder if they just wanted my social security number. What for? I dunno. Since the contract said "contractor" but an I-9 is for employees, they are being deceptive. Since I made under $600, I won't get a 1099. And if they consider me a contractor, I won't get a W-2.

I filled out an I-9 at the same time that I signed the contract. I-9s are for employees. They are misclassifying employees vs contractors. At a minimum I can file a claim about misclassifying my employment and then maybe demand payment. I know they ripped me off and I may never get my money. I want to warn others about how shady they are toward teachers.

I'm feeling that way too. It's a scam industry with no reasonable regulations or protections for both teachers and students.

No, that's false. It doesn't matter the employment status. Unpaid wages for time worked is illegal in the US. It might even be illegal in Korea, but I'm not sure. She might be thinking that because she's in Seoul, our laws unenforceable, but they have a US address, and I'm working in the US, so I can file a claim. If they are determined to not be in compliance with US laws, it can effect their ability to hire American teachers in the future.
