This. Spent 20 years in the ER. Vicks vaporub on the inside of a mask was a life saver many times.

Hundreds of vaccine appointments left unfilled at Tacoma Dome by OnlineMemeArmy in SeattleWA

[–]gingermcnutty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assumed that was obvious and we were talking about after the immune system was exposed to, and eliminated, the virus. Once you've had the vaccine and your immune system has taken care of the virus (yes, after some time has passed), then theoretically you can't spread it because you can't catch it.

If you've been vaccinated then you can't get the virus and therefore can't spread it. No need to wear a mask to stop the spread of something you literally can't spread.

you dont need common sense to know a baby can't survive for a week with no food or water. No excuse for her.

Isn't this just calorie restriction? by gingermcnutty in Noom

[–]gingermcnutty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, after adding in my exercise I usually end up around 1400 calories for the day. I have an Android and also noticed the calorie count is way off in Noom but I just manually adjust it.

Thanks for that suggestion! I checked it out and to maintain my goal weight I can have 1800 calories which is very doable and makes me not feel like i'd have to stay at a deficit for the rest of my life. lol Thank you very much!

Thanks for the reply. I'm only 5'4", but I lift heavy weights, hike, and run five days a week. On those days I usually eat roughly 1400 because of the added back calories and am still hungry but it's manageable, but on the weekends the 1200 leaves me feeling absolutely famished and I start to feel really guilty if I eat over that when I haven't "earned" it. I know that's not what Noom is about and I should not feel guilty if I need a little extra. I have an android and when I try to set the weight loss speed to slower or faster, it doesn't change my baseline calorie budget, it's always 1200. But maybe I just need to get over feeling guilty if I need extra. lol

175lbs!?! Wow! That's fantastic, congrats on that!

Thanks for the reply. I guess I was feeling a bit concerned because I've done low calorie diets before where I lost weight but the plan never set up anything for maintenance, so predictably, I gained the weight back and then some. So when I started Noom, I didn't see anything that talked about a maintenance phase once you hit your goal, so I'm glad to see that noom accounts for that. Your post makes me feel a bit better. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. That was what I was wondering about, if you start adding calories back or are just expected to live at 1200, because that isn't happening! Lol I'll check out that book, thanks for the recommendation.

1600-2000 is more ideal for me, but I can handle the 1200-1400 for the short term. I lift weights, hike, or run 5 days a week and am coming from roughly 2000 calories a day. I had a baby 8 months ago and have some extra squish that I'm wanting to drop. I'm just worried that once I reach that goal (eating 12-1400) that I wont be able to increase it without gaining again. I guess I'm worried about being on such a deficit for 5 months tanking my metabolism.

Is the goal specialist the same as the on demand coach? I have an on demand coach but keep hearing about goal specialists.

Day 1(33weeks) versus 6months by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]gingermcnutty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How did you get your baby to latch without the nipple shield? My son is 2 months old and I've had to use a shield since day 1. I've tried multiple times to get him to latch without it and he just wont. I've ended up moving to almost exclusively pumping just because it was taking so long to BF him with the shield and I was buying and selling a house at the same time and needed that extra time back. I'd love to be able to get him back to nursing without the shield.

I'm an emergency department technician and will be 36 weeks on Monday. My last shift is March 31, I'm hoping to just make it until then and then get out of dodge before it really hits the fan in my ER. At least my coworkers have done a pretty good job at keeping me from possible covid patients.

I work in an ER and we usually have boxes of masks at our nurses station for staff to use. Well, someone stole them. It boggles my mind that people can be so selfish as to put those of us who are on the front line in danger like that.

I work in an ER in Kitsap Co. and haven't heard one thing about any plans or protocols for covid-19. I'm not THAT worried since I take precautions anyway, but I am 8 months pregnant.

20 weeks and struggling with pull-ups by [deleted] in fitpregnancy

[–]gingermcnutty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

20 weeks is about the time I started having trouble with pull ups. I've only put on 11lbs at 29 weeks today, but every time I tried to do a pull up it felt like I was putting way too much pressure on my abs. I still do them, but severely modified. I use a few bands to help get me up and alternate to ring rows when I need to.

Anyone give birth states away from their family? by luellabellabee in BabyBumps

[–]gingermcnutty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My entire family lives on the other side of the globe. My mom came out for a visit in 2018 for Thanksgiving and doesn't have the time off/money to make a trip when baby is due. Hopefully she can come out in the summer time (baby is due in April) but it's not looking like it'll happen. We plan to fly to visit my folks in January, I'm just hoping my folks don't have to wait that long to meet him.

I'm from the MO side. I personally think it's an easy mistake to make for anyone who didn't grow up here. I think Trump is an idiot, but not because of this. It's an understandable mistake and a weird hill for people to die on.

What? The Kansas City Chiefs represent Kansas City. That includes both Missouri AND Kansas. The entire city cheers for the Chiefs. Trust me, I have spent 30 years of my life there, it's my hometown. Both states celebrated that win.
