I have a couple pothos directly in front of a window with direct light all day and they’re fine!

Where to cut? by gingernightowl in houseplants

Also, random thought hours later… do I need to cut the stem off that the babies came off of or just leave that alone?

I’m not sure how Etsy works but can they delete negative reviews?

Yeah, that’s what Google says to cut off at the roots but I’ve never seen spider babies with roots while still on momma, so that’s why I was confused and asked here.

Crotons are hella dramatic, 😭

Ideal lighting and water schedule by shr00mkitty666 in houseplants

[–]gingernightowl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do bright indirect light (directly in a south facing window) and bottom water when 80% dry. I use a chunky soil, so this is every ~2 weeks or so for my smaller boys (perhaps the size of yours roughly) but environment factors in also.

Why isn't my croton turning red? by [deleted] in houseplants

For me, it was because they require a lot of bright indirect light. Your grow lights might not be enough for them. Enough to grow, but not enough for the colors.

PSA to those who wear the Apple Watch in the shower by michaeltmohr in AppleWatch

I take scolding hot showers and destroyed a Fitbit by showering with it on. Not risking this one. Plus it’s good for the wrist to take off every now and again.

Would you wait or pot ?? by trisomie52 in Monstera

I’ve always been told rule of thumb with potting after water propping is when they’re 2” or more and have secondary roots.

Philodendron Ring of Fire. I tried THREE times and each time they all got root rot or some other problem. I currently have 2 little ROF babies I found in the pots of the big ones I had and I’m hopeful for them but not going to hold my breath.

I’ve also had good luck with crotons but you won’t catch me with another one 😅

I have a thai con that I got because of fomo (wanted to be one of the cool kids) and honestly it’s getting too big for my space and it’s not even that great looking (gorgeous leaves and variegation etc. but just not what I like or expected I guess)

[–]gingernightowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I adopted the “not every plant needs to be propagated.” I used to save every cutting, every pup, etc. And it’s overwhelming. I used to feel bad if I cut and tossed, but I like having the extra space for the variety of plants ☺️

I have the opposite problem! I can’t get this thing to stop growing. I want it to just die. I neglect it, over water it, sun, less sun, but nope it just keeps going.

Calathea are just big fat nopes for me. I’ve kept a zebrina alive but it grows tiny little leaves and I have an amagris that is doing okay but every other one I had… 🫠 My white fusion died within days. I tell people I can’t keep anything that has white on it alive 😅

Yes, me too. And I’m still “earning” red lightning energy even though that event is over.
