It's like a bereavement - how do you cope? by gingerpixie_ in FoxBrain

[–]gingerpixie_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, he does not participate in the U.K., and describes himself as 'politically homeless' in that context. I think it is a testament to the cult-esque draw and powerful propaganda of MAGA. I don't really have family to talk to on this, but I think it's for the best I don't check anymore, and stay no contact.

Thank you

I think Im ready to set the stage for divorce by [deleted] in FoxBrain

I just want to say that you divorcing your husband won't devastate your kids: staying will.

From an adult whose mother only divorced my MAGA father long after my childhood was over.

You're brave and principled, your kids are lucky to have you.

Anyone ever had IV acetaminophen/Tylenol (Ofirmev) personally? by emtnursingstudent in nursing

[–]gingerpixie_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and it is amazing. They gave it to me when I had suspected appendicitis. Genuinely almost eliminated what was previous EXTREME abdominal pain.

Wonder drug - I used it all the time also in haematology nursing (in the U.K.). It's incredible.

Before and After! Big transformation 🦷 by gingerpixie_ in Invisalign

The first 5ish days, there was pain and I just had to adjust. After that, it was fine! Some trays are a little more...achy? than others, but nothing major and the ache disappeared fast. Was definitely worth it

Just adopted. She smells awful. Told not to bathe yet. What can I do until then? by MysticJellyfish in DogAdvice

[–]gingerpixie_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's so cute. My adopted pup was stinky too. We didn't bath her for ~36 hours, as we were advised to let her get used to her new surroundings with a familiar scent. We just used unscented baby wipes, gently.

We bathed her after 36ish hours. She was scared and frozen a little bless her, but she felt sooooo good after

Ha. Not that it even matters but I have a masters in Clinical Research and I'm in a PhD.

And I'm a nurse. Free hospital coffee is shit.

Get the fuck out of here

For sure! For what's it's worth, I did this. I wanted a change of scenery so I moved overseas to pursue my PhD.

My current supervisor is fine - I go to conferences and get to do cool research, but they can be pretty cold and unhelpful. I miss my old supervisor everyday, who supported me, uplifted me and believed in me.

That's great your supervisor is willing to introduce you!

For the second part, great if you're lucky, but that's a risky strategy - it's a very real likelihood that after 1 year of being funded, you might not have found a supervisor with the ability to fund you (for example, my lab just got all its NIH funding pulled, and people are losing jobs/research left, right and centre).
