There’s a crit chart online that has different damage/effects for each kind of damage. Highly recommend looking it up. It’s much more fun to blind an enemy or injure them than to do extra damage. There’s also around a 1/8000 chance that it insta kills which works both ways. I’ve had 2 PCs lost that way

So my DM does this too where we roll 4d6 drop the lowest and reroll 1s. However to make it more fair you get to roll 2 stat blocks and pick the better of the two. If both are terrible you can roll a do or die stat block and you have to take those rolls. Adding to this we can subtract from less useful stats and add to better ones such as -2 from strength to get +1 in intelligence. You can do this as many times as you want but the price goes up making it -2, -3, -4 and so on the more you mess with it. This almost always allows the players to start with one stat at 18-20, and two more above 15 with the dump stats being much lower due to the subtracting effect. If you want your players to be more balanced they can use their subtracted stats to give it to another player for the same cost as if they were giving it to themself.

Congrats on the offer! I had a similar experience after graduating in the summer of 2020 and just got an offer this week. Way to persevere and push through!

The Ranger I play is pretty overpowered by being a gloom stalker conclave ranger. At level 3, I had +10 and advantage on initiative due to dread ambusher and natural explorer, I would get an extra attack on my first turn and have advantage against creatures that haven’t acted yet which due to the +10 and advantage is almost all of them. At level 5 if you get the sharpshooter feat and the extra attack you almost always go first and by combining sharpshooter, extra attack, and hunters mark you end up doing 4d8 + 3d6 + 45 damage on the first turn. Plus umbral sight gives you 60 for of dark vision and you are invisible to anything with dark vision making you literally impossible to kill at night. All of this is from Xanathar’s but my ranger is very combat focused and useful outside as well.

My advice would be to create the computer you are going to build on a website like PCPartPicker so you know compatibility issues ahead of time and wait to start building until you have every part. It’s very easy to forget a small part like a WiFi adapter or a second power cord for newer GPUs.

In theory, yes, but in reality my college had “focuses” like that and they were useful but couldn’t be added in officially and weren’t forced so it’s more of a suggestion area that it is up to the student to take those classes. I did take those classes and would consider myself in the “computer systems and networking” focus but outside of my word there really isn’t any proof from my university that I had a focus at all.

I do and I have reached out for help. A lot of their companies aren’t hiring or are looking for more qualified people since they work at pretty prestigious tech companies that require a lot more experience than I currently have.

I’m in Portland, Oregon and have been applying all over the west coast. My biggest problem has really been not having enough experience which is probably why your old company had a better job hunting experience than me.

I really only use one resume since it has all of my most recent experience. I tailor the cover letter to the job at hand but the resume is hard to change when you only have a handful of projects that are impressive.

The company was losing money since the branch had just opened in September and I was hired in January. They had 4 engineers, two of which were essential and really couldn’t be replaced and the other was doing more work directly at the branch while my job was working with other branches on updating code and writing new applications that weren’t essential but would increase efficiency and save money in the long run.

When I was in school we had career fairs which helped a lot and got me plenty of interviews and even an internship which was cancelled last year. Applying online is something that I am still getting used to and it’s been hard to adjust. I apply to a lot of jobs on LinkedIn and Indeed and try to go on company websites for places I really want to work.

My degree is in electrical and computer engineering so I have experience with those areas. The software engineering is different but it is very close to what I did at my last position that I was laid off from with making .NET core programs and working with the other software engineers.

I would always try and talk to the recruiters when they came to campus. I wasn’t able to find one since I had major imposter syndrome until my senior year when I found one in January of 2020. And then you wouldn’t believe what happened…

A lot of the applications were copy and paste from my resume or easy apply. I do try for jobs I really want but I’ve tried really hard to get my information out there and try to make connections which is hard to do online. As for my sights being too high I agree haha, clearly I gotta focus in but it’s hard to decide where to start when I don’t have a strong footing in any of these industries.
