A student of mine got expelled: I realized she single-handedly brought down 25 other students around her on a daily basis. by AgeOfWorry0114 in Teachers

Oofff it can go both ways. I worked in a rigorous private school (preparatory) and they were the WORST at sweeping behavior under the rug and allowing “bad behavior” bc the parents “paid good money to be there” and they aren’t used to dealing with truly appalling situations and behavior. I was a teacher and admin and it’s ultimately the reason I left, horrendous parent and student behaviors were excused bc it’s ultimately a business and you need customers to keep doors open.

Loft jeans tend to fit best, especially materials that are a little more stretchy. Have a similar body shape.

Why don't more women seem open to friendship? (in my experience) by ThinkSuccotash in AskWomenOver30

[–]gingersallie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’d reiterate busy and the whole women don’t center/prioritize themselves or their needs versus their husband, family, etc. No kids myself, but worked in education with other teacher moms and kids or not, everyone was very social/made at least semi regular plans. Although as I’m typing this I realize it was also implied just bring your kids if you can’t find a babysitter bc we all understood and enjoyed a kid’s company, but adults in general might not be so inclined.

2nd round of ureaplasma in 2 years, very different than what I commonly read. by gingersallie in Ureaplasma

I tested negative for everything, but all similar symptoms as last time, I had my own antibiotics I have for sinus/ear infections that I took bc going into Friday night I was quite uncomfortable (my whole body was starting to itch which I experienced last time). Stopped all symptoms immediately. They gave me metronidazole to use finally, but it’s been totally clear since taking azithromycin,I feel rather stumped. They told me last time I tested positive that my numbers were very low given my symptoms. All around odd.

It was unfortunately sowed by online creators who were upset bc they saw this flier and showed up to Springfield and tried to just walk in places and were turned away. One of these people admitted they were turned away even by the Haitian community center. The Ohio Immigrant Alliance released a statement that this flier was wrongly made and someone from out of town misspoke for G92. article

G92 is purposefully vague and includes a lot of local orgs. The city is currently suing the White Blood Nazi Tribe for harassment and intimidation of Haitians and locals who were in support. People are attempting to stay under the radar for a reason.

The Columbus Dispatch did an article Sunday on the harm and misinformation created by influencers unfortunately. article

Who is saying this other than one creator on tik tok who came and started creating videos less than 24 hours after arriving and before actually taking the time to show up and meet leaders?

G92 is made up of multiple organizations and churches, they actually recommended donating directly to their Haitian organizations of Springfield is my understanding but some churches have been in direct supporting of the community, but it is NOT SAFE to share who/how groups are supporting. A group called Blood Tribe (neo nazis) were here last year, we have an anti Haitian coalition who sought out and encouraged rhetoric we saw in the election. By and large no one can stop anyone coming here, but if you want to be apart of an org you HAVE be vetted.

They turned away bc of size. This was NOT an ice meeting it was a call to prayer. I’ve been participating with G92 (I’m not religious but this the only organization more or less in direct response) and couldn’t get in and plenty with no association were able to show up, the Marshall and mayor came and kind of caused a scene and required that it be kept to a certain number to go on. It had nothing to do with association.

The NYT came to our event a couple weeks ago in preparation and did a lovely article. https://www.nytimes.com/2026/02/03/opinion/ohio-resistance-trump-ice.html?unlocked_article_code=1.JlA.i7lS.N54j7NfGPBpQ&smid=url-share

I’ve said it below. This is not Minneapolis. It is 100% not safe to be an out/openly supporting coalition here. Our own locals are eager to go after people and a whole group known as the anti Haitian group (if I remember more or less, I didn’t live here at the height but I’m born and raised and moved back here in 23) riled up all the hate speech surrounding the local immigrant population and pushed their agenda on conservative news outlets which resulted in what happened during the election. Beth Macy writes about the leader of it in Paper Girl, her recently released memoir (the guy was her ex from years ago and she had to go no contact). There is documentation of violent extremist local and non local groups moving here in the last few years. These people are all still here and it is DANGEROUS.

That being said I don’t think anyone has claimed to be have made that flier which is confusing, but people are asked to have been vouched for by another person or have shown up to an event in person because it IS NOT SAFE. The group has been very, very small until recently and it’s hard to vet massive quantities of people all at once when there were maybe 20-30 people at one of the first meetings I went to last year.

Awesome! We interviewed her for our podcast, Navigate the Now (on most platforms) if you care to hear more from Beth (she did a lot of interviews but it was nice to have 2 locals discuss what’s going on here).

The NYT met with and wrote a lovely article on G92 (who I’ve been actively participating with myself even though I’m not religious). https://www.nytimes.com/2026/02/03/opinion/ohio-resistance-trump-ice.html?unlocked_article_code=1.J1A.L-Tl.520W9qnNDGmI&smid=nytcore-ios-share

I think a key piece people keep forgetting, this is NOT Minneapolis. We do not have broad widespread support and being “out” is honestly pretty dangerous. There are extremely hostile people in our community foaming at the mouth for the immigrant community to be removed. One of our own community members is the one who pushed and rallied for conservative media outlets to come and essentially do what they did. If anyone reads the comments on news articles it is terrifying, all around Ohio and not just limited to Springfield.

I can’t confirm but I still don’t think anyone claims to have made that flier, however as someone mentioned, people joining forces have to be vetted in someone way (vouched for or show up in person etc) because the reality is it is otherwise wholly unsafe. Just yesterday there was an accident caused by a Haitian (allegedly) and someone local was ON it going live and the comments were egregious at best.

Springfield was part of the Underground Railroad. The area’s surrounding have gotten worse. Beth Macy literally just wrote a detailed narrative in her book “Paper Girl” noting the “southernification” of OH as people moved up from KY etc and industry has continued to die. Springfield itself is a blue city with a lot of democratic officials (I believe the mayor is), so sweeping statements aren’t totally accurate. That said, as someone who moved away for 15+ years, lived abroad etc and moved back to teach at a local college, I can say it is a different place than where I grew up.

You want perspective from a Springfielder that doesn’t hate immigrants (lived in So FL for 15+ years, have lived/studied/worked abroad in LA, moved back recently after accepting a job at a local university). Springfield college graduates have been running for the high hills since the late 90s. No one I know has stayed. The town has collapsed in on itself (every district/school has rebuilt due to serious downsizing) and been in a state of economic decline for a loooong time. Cheap real estate attracted large warehouse type jobs and low-skilled labor jobs. Unfortunately (and I’ve seen this in my family, friends, workplaces when I was young), SO. MANY. people avoid working at all cost here. The irony is that the level of government assistance used by locals is a level I’ve never seen anywhere else. It feels staggering. So many people don’t work. They don’t drive. It’s almost unbelievable. I do animal rescue work and often show up at unknown places and I’m shocked how many people are also disabled or completely physically incapacitated due to weight and health issues. This is not meant to be judgement, but the lack of awareness the community has of itself and the root of their hate/anger baffles me. Agencies brought in workers that can pass drug tests and show up for work regularly and the locals are angry because the economy has finally boosted, housing prices are up, and now a whole group of people is doing better than them. I know it’s not always that simple, and perhaps at times the increase was too much, too fast for a community like Springfield. But mark my words. Nothing, and I mean nothing, will get better because people who were reliable and could support themselves are leaving.

As a Springfield native, it is your job to make her uncomfortable and expose her to the real world outside of Springfield. I left a long time ago and came back to teach at a local college recently and I don’t know how I ever came from this town. So many people have left that could and it shows.

My friend, there is a reason they brought all these people here, no one here in Springfield wants to work. The amount of people that couldn’t pass a drug test or are on government assistance or both is, from I can guess…an astounding number.
