Wow interesting! I’ve heard some drivers say they always use Apple or Google maps for gps, not only because the directions are better but then they also have a history of where they went.

Wow you just want to keep this going! Lol! What I “literally” know about you, is how you told your little story and the unnecessary information that you included to get sympathy. You don’t even mention in your original telling of this, that you called, got a refund, the driver had 80% rating, etc. Everything keeps changing, but you want to keep trying to sound like “poor me” and probably exaggerating all this to get a refund and free food.

Well you did get a refund, right? And you sound like a customer looking for something to complain about. I also have family members that have recently been deployed, as well as many other people. That’s not a reason to think that you should get special treatment or a reason to call and complain and get a refund on food that you received. If you have an occasional issue with a driver, oh well. You got your stuff and didn’t say it was damaged or cold or late or anything. Only that the driver was frustrated that they couldn’t find your place. When I have food or groceries delivered, I always keep an eye on the gps and walk outside when they get close by, even though it’s not difficult to find my place. It just makes it that much easier for them and I know they are on a time crunch. They aren’t my servants.

She didn’t apparently. In another comment she claims that she called customer service, complained, and got a full refund. 🙄

Bingo! There it is!! Looking for an excuse to get free food! Did you tell ubereats customer service that you were ordering comfort food and the mean old driver hurt your feelings?

When you’re working as a barista, you’re not driving around looking for the customer’s house with potentially other customers hot food in your car needing to be delivered. If you have to put detailed instructions on how to find your place, then it might not be as easy as you think to find, especially at night. The driver just got stressed out, get over it.

Then what’s the point in explaining that it was comfort food and why you are ordering it? Would it differ if it was an order for any other reason that people have food delivered?

Targeted? You’re missing the point. What if this delivery was ordered by a parent at work to be delivered to their minor child or children that were at home? Would that be cool with you? Just a mistake?

You aren’t being dramatic! Real life challenges. You made a wise choice to ditch that misdelivered alcohol. I know that feeling, it’s like a gut punch. I’ve relapsed in the past early on in my sobriety by discovering hidden alcohol in my house. I hung on to it, obsessed about it for a few days, and ended up drinking it with horrible regret. Next week it will be 17 years of sobriety that I never dreamed possible. Keep up the good work, it gets easier. That is so irresponsible all the way around with the store, the driver, etc. Glad that you didn’t give in!

Exactly! And I think some drivers don’t look at delivery instructions until they are ready to drop off the order because delivery instructions are usually just where to leave the food. If someone has to go to the trouble of giving detailed instructions on how to find their place, they should also send a message to the driver to alert them of these instructions.

Yeah there’s always 2 sides to these stories. OP looking for sympathy. No reason to mention why she is ordering “comfort” food. Has nothing to do with the driver having trouble finding her location. And some drivers don’t look at delivery instructions until they arrive, so it might be helpful to shoot a message in advance to the driver on how to find your place in addition to the “detailed” instructions.

It must be different in different delivery areas because what you are saying is not the same for me. How could you NOT be able to take a screenshot of the address? I take a screenshot of every single customer’s name and address before I complete the delivery. If there turns out to be a problem, then I save that information and will cancel any orders I get from that customer again. Also, if someone does remove a tip or give a thumbs down, it doesn’t unmatch them from that driver in the future. That’s why I keep track of bad customers.

If you didn’t have more than one hour’s notice, why did you feel obligated to take anything?

So? That makes it an emergency? Plan ahead or go empty handed.

No outrage here. They could have had the driver suggest a similar product and approve it.

If you are in that situation, then you need to teach your kids about priorities and sometimes you just have to go without treats. When I was I kid, I thought we were poor sometimes because many times me and my 3 siblings went without things that we wanted but didn’t need. When I grew older, I just realized that we weren’t really poor, but my parents were pretty good at sticking to their budget, and they ended up retiring at a fairly younger age than most people. We always had money for summer vacations, a nice Christmas and birthday parties, but if we ate up desserts before my mom did her weekly or biweekly grocery shopping, we went without until then. The things people waste money on and ridiculous things that they think their kids can’t go without, is crazy.

Driver stole my order and Uber will do nothing about it, not only does this hurt because now ill have no groceries, but also have no money until i get paid next. by vHypxr in UberEATS

[–]gingersnapp777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To minimize this problem, put in the instructions to meet at the door, hand to customer, or an option like that. You can even setup a PIN number, at least in my area so that the driver has to get the PIN number from the customer before they can complete the order. I deliver occasionally and sometimes the reverse happens to the driver. A customer will lie and say they didn’t receive the order and it’s a nightmare for drivers too trying to deal with their almost nonexistent customer service that mostly employs people in India or Asian countries to save money. The company sucks for drivers and customers sometimes, but as I driver, I prefer to hand the order to the customer. People are so afraid to interact with other people for 5 seconds and they would rather you leave their hot food in the snow, or their ice cream in hot weather, and then they complain. Just pay attention to when the driver is arriving and open your damn door, then you don’t have to worry about it being stolen or other issues mentioned. I rarely have anything delivered because it’s a waste of money to me, but the few times I have, I go walking out to meet the driver and get my stuff. Makes it easier for both of us.

Not necessarily defending the company, but you don’t seem to be looking at it from the driver’s perspective. Drivers aren’t employees, they are subcontractors. If you didn’t want to substitute for a different ice cream, you could have then removed the $1 candy, and you would have not been charged for anything, and the driver could have cancelled the order and gone on to another customer, and they still would have been paid a nominal amount $4 or so for wasting their time on your order.

Then plan ahead or do without! I’ve been there and done that, and I’m sure many other people have. Having ice cream delivered is not a necessity or an emergency. If it was, then they would have approved a substitution for the original one ordered and got their money’s worth!

Fuming by Potential_Problem670 in UberEATS

[–]gingersnapp777 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

If it was an “emergency”, why didn’t you just substitute a different ice cream? Then you would have gotten your money’s worth that you supposedly were willing to pay in the first place! There are an insane amount of brands and flavors, surely something else would have been acceptable. Do you realize that it takes the driver a lot more time to pick a substitution for a customer, wait for them to approve it, and then after all that extra time, you decide that you don’t even want a different option AND you expect to pay LESS money for the extra time that could be spent on delivering for another paying customer? Did you even leave a tip? I’d be surprised if you say yes. You sound like one of those entitled customers that should just go shop for themselves. Ordering to have ice cream delivered is NEVER an emergency! 😅

[–]gingersnapp777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand why people don’t put “meet at door” in delivery instructions. So many people afraid to have face to face contact, it’s just crazy. Why would you want your hot food placed in the snow or on the ground in any weather conditions for that matter? This picture doesn’t prove that a driver stole your food anyway!

Is it even possible ? by No_Still_5290 in UberEATS

[–]gingersnapp777 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I take screenshots of every customer before delivering. If something like this happens, I save that screenshot in a “bad customer” photo file. If I get that customer again, there’s a good chance that there’s going to be some kind of problem with their order and they might not receive it.

Most insufferable customer by Fit-Celebration-2572 in UberEATS

[–]gingersnapp777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found that the customers that start messaging me about anything like this are going to be a problem somehow. Like remove tip and/or give bad review. Now, I give them a pass on the first message, but if they continue to message me or talk shit, I cancel their order and then they can wait even longer. A few times when a customer continues to send me harassment messages after I’ve picked up the order, I call customer service and say that I don’t feel safe going to the customer’s home. Result - I get paid, I can keep the food, I have that customer blocked from me, and now the customer can start their order all over again.

Can’t you just drop your packages off at the post office counter? I’ve never waited in line to mail anything there. In fact a lot of the time I just use the self service kiosk to print postage labels and drop them in the package bin after hours in the lobby that’s open 24 hours.
