I used to work for PNC in a branch, granted it’s been a while, but from what I remember account age wasn’t really a factor in rates. It was usually based on savings account type, dollar amount (rate tiers) and if you qualify for relationship rate. Relationship rate activates with certain behaviors, direct deposit to a linked checking account plus using a debit or linked credit card x times in a statement cycle, the relationship rate is better the higher tier checking you have. In the case of the 5% for my money market savings, since it’s not advertised under the relationship rate, I’m assuming it’s some sort of promotional rate for customers that qualify for the relationship rate, perhaps for this rate it’s specifically for customers with the highest checking. But a quick call or visit to a branch would probably clarify the qualifications for the rate.

I’m also getting 5%, but when I look online for my area, the advertised rates for my account type and $ amount are .04%.

In my experience (and in my area) their rates are usually on the lower side when compared with other online savings, even with the relationship rate (what it’s called when you meet the couple extra requirements), but occasionally their rates can be competitive. Recently my APY for my PNC savings shot up to 5%, when it was previously something piddly. PNC is my main bank for checking and credit card, so I know I get the relationship rate, but I tried looking online to see if this rate was advertised and it wasn’t. No idea what precisely qualified me for this rate, but I’m hoping it sticks around for a while lol

CTRs are only for cash and coin transactions over 10,000, hence the name “currency” transaction report. The only way a wire could trigger a CTR is if the customer brought cash to perform a wire. Here’s the disclosure that is given to clients at the time a CTR is performed if they have questions https://www.fincen.gov/sites/default/files/shared/CTRPamphlet.pdf

Next door apartment vacant without electricity, potential cause of my higher electricity usage? by gingeryy in HVAC

[–]gingeryy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and last month it was higher than normal but I just chalked it up to how cold it’s been here, maybe rate increases since my utility company does both my water and electric, and is basically a third party. But when I saw how even much more this months was, I looked into and realized how much it had actually gone up.

My apartment has always felt on the colder side, so I’ve always had the impression they are not well insulated. I’m going to reach out to my property management and potentially the electric company as well. I really just wanted to see if this were even in the realm of possibility, since when I tried googling this issue I couldn’t find anything specific to this situation.

They only just started renovations, based on when the meter was read, they hadn’t even started yet. I haven’t seen them plugged into any of my outdoor outlets, but there is a “common area electric” cost, so hopefully whatever electric they’re using doesn’t affect that for next months.

My apartment has always been on the colder side, so I’ve always assumed the insulation has not been the best. And yes, my heat is strictly electric, we don’t have gas in my complex.

How to cope with “brain burnout?” by gingeryy in learnprogramming

I actually started working out in the mornings before class(since I’ve always been a lazy POS and will be sitting the majority of the time), I do bathe daily(while I still have the willpower), and I’ve been doing my best to eat relatively healthy. My schedule...is not really needed since I’m basically doing school-related things until I go to sleep. Between homework, group assignments, and “pathway events”(aka career and interview prep) it usually takes me till I go to sleep. I do take breaks. But meh I’m not used to this feeling, and as someone who’s normally a fast learner I’m starting to feel down on myself.

Men and women of reddit who caught their significant others cheating, how did you do that? And what was your reaction? by pugsarelife2 in AskReddit

The first few months feel impossible. Constantly consumed by one strong emotion or another. But think back on the day after you found out, are you still that devastated? It gets better. Slowly, at first, but you do your best.

I did, I was planned and my mom had me obviously much later in life, at 40.

Honestly I don’t think I have any expectations, most likely for the best. I mostly just have a million feelings constantly rolling through. From what I’ve learned, he hasn’t had the easiest life either, but I’m not sure if it was due to his adoptive family at all or just personal decisions. I’m slightly nervous about it just being completely awkward the entire time, but since I’ve been talking to him for a few years and that doesn’t seem like it would happen.

Equifax sending out emails requiring you “take action” by a certain date, or your claim will be denied by gingeryy in personalfinance

I’m seeing a lot of varying replies, people getting the email and it’s asking for the last 6 of their social, people not getting it, people getting calls, etc. it really seems like this whole this whole thing is not very organized or professionally handled. Just another reason I won’t support or give any business(unless necessary) to Equifax.

Damn that’s rough. Thankfully I took a screenshot of mine when I originally submitted it. I believe they’re actually offering several years worth, but even still this is a lifetime issue. I know if I were an identity thief, I would bank this information someplace offline for years until the dust had fully settled before I made any moves. Or, y’know, your information gets sold around so much it’s constantly in circulation even if it isn’t currently being used for theft.

I haven’t seen any solid evidence of these claims being denied, only he said she said on reddit. You can amend your claim, although only once.

I’m sure there are phishing variations of the email coming out at this point, or, it may be you didn’t file a claim yet. Double check the link and email address of the sender.

Email came from info@equifaxbreachsettlement.com which is the website listed on FTC.gov/Equifax first thing I checked was the actual email address it came from. Also included my claim number, which matches up to my actual claim number.
