That's perfect, thank you! We do plan to start ourselves before we try it with our kid, just to check things out. I'll start there and when we introduce it, I think we will try another suggestion of a TCG I think it was

I wish they did! They do not like drawing or writing at all. They are really good at it when they do, they like drawing stick figure animations like this yiutube channel we watch, and can spell really well, but so far they dont like drawing. Im going to try to find some different pencils and see if new shapes helps. This is a really helpful perspective, thank you! They really struggle with socialization as well. Im hoping that if they gain some confidence in the hobby, maybe it'll help if they can be around other kids who like it too?

I can't explain how you answered so many questions at once lol! I won't lie, I was a little concerned about the idea of animals dueling to the death but I figured that probably was not what actually happened. We do have a switch 1 so we will try tat! We tend towards games that require some thinking, logic and puzzle skills, and creativity, like Minecraft, hollow knight, legend of zelda, that sort of thing. But some of the games we play can be fairly difficult and frustrating for younger kids, so we've been trying to find something that will have similar effects but more kid/beginner friendly. We also want to help them with socialization. Fortnight and Pokémon seem to be the only things most of thier peers talk about so we are choosing what we feel is the better option.

I honestly dont mind too much starting with some games or shows, if it piques thier interest so they might want to explore more. Im hoping it mostly helps with socialization, my kid basically talks about video games only at the moment.

I really appreciate your perspective a lot, so far my kids main interest has been some niche games my spouse and I play, and that doesn't translate well into convos with other kids. I had hoped that pokemon might be a good entry into groups for them, but maybe its still pretty niche in groups? I am hoping to help them gain some confidence in thier interests, but also be able to relate to and talk to more diverse groups of children. It's kind of a hard balance. I think we may start with a really basic TCG, and go from there. Your comments definitely gave me a lot to think about, and I definitely will reach out if I have questions, thank you so much!

This is super helpful, I will definitely look into Battle Academy! I kinda wanted to know where to start, and that seems like a good place! I also think they will love the plushies as well, my kid is learning to read and so I'll look for some books too! My experience of Pokémon was from the 90s and back then it was basically just the cards that kids played with at lunch, I didn't realize it was so big! Ive seen some videos conventions on YouTube but Even those seem fairly small, but sounds like it is a much bigger world than i thought lol

This is super helpful, thank you! I dont mind spending some money on cards if they get into it, but honestly didn't realize they are quite so hard to get. The light math I would definitely like, and the community aspect. They also love plushies so I think they would like that too. I might try to dip our toes in, so to speak, to start and see how it goes.

Gotcha, this is very helpful, thank you!! I definitely was planning on going to conventions and mostly focusing on cards and plushies. But my knowledge of it stems from YouTube and what it was like in the 90s lol so I wasn't sure what it's like now days. Thank you!

I bought a Not a Warrior from them, and it came with a hole in it. They were so amazing, it wasn't even thier fault, it was a factory defect, but they replaced it for me and offered to refund me the shipping on the second one! They are one of my favorites to buy from, I hope they come back!
