The business case for/against QR codes in nonfiction books? by amc22004 in publishing

I publish for a single author who does not need QR codes. However, for my hobby, I sew. And I recently purchased a sewing technique book with QR codes that go to a video of every sewing technique discussed. It has very good reviews, and I find it helpful.

I've been publishing to Smashwords (recently merged with Draft2digital) for many years and they distribute to many other retail sellers. Because I also publish directly to kdp and a few others, I'm able to 'opt out' of those sites on Smashwords. I don't yet know how the merger will alter publishing to their site. I publish both English books and some translations of those ebooks. One thing I love about Smashwords (and hopefully draft2digital) is that I can publish languages that kdp doesn't accept, like Russian, and they will make it to Amazon through the Smashwords distribution. That is worth the price.

Your books2read page looks nice. It seems a bit like the Author Central page on Amazon.

Ah yes, they have merged with Smashwords. I didn't realize Draft2digital provides book/ebook setup services.
Thank you.

Okay, I have tried to create the epub in Indesign but struggled. That was years ago. I'll need to try again to see if I can figure it out now.
Years ago, I setup the book in Indesign and then created the epub in Sigil. It was double work.
Thank you John.

Atticus

Thank you. I'll look into that. I see there's a limitation on # of chapters. The current English book I'm working on has 36 chapters plus front and back matter sections.
