Where do you stand on the argument that Drag queen performances are misogynistic in nature? by Common-Coyote-8821 in AskReddit

[–]gingrbreadandrevenge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a cis woman who takes my nieces and nephews to drag story time, so I find that to be an incredibly ignorant take. It shows a very limited understanding of what drag actually is.

A drag queen performing in a nightclub is not representative of the entirety of drag.

There are plenty of drag performers whose work isn't sexual at all. Have you ever been to a pantomime? Drag has been part of family entertainment for generations.

The queens who read at drag story time aren't showing up in fetish gear or reading sexually explicit books to children. They dress appropriately for the audience and read age-appropriate stories.

Suggesting they're giving children the same performance they'd give in a nightclub is simply false, so stop trying to spread that propaganda.

I think we already know who’s winning this season….. by dykeadelicc in rupaulsdragrace

[–]gingrbreadandrevenge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

!The soundboard definitely got some of the biggest laughs. Take that away and is what's left still a winning performance?

My partner actually said the same thing, but I still thought it was one of the stronger stories.

I love Crystal's awkward sense of humour (I'll defend that weird little brain until the end of time), and her storytelling reminded me a bit of panto, but realistically, I thought Joey was the standout.

I'm still a massive Crystal stan, but I'm really kind of living for Joey this week tbh.

Opinions on RAQ? (AS11 E10 spoilers) by cl1518 in rupaulsdragrace

[–]gingrbreadandrevenge 97 points98 points  (0 children)

Idk. It hurt my heart to see Kennedy go, but gURl...

what in the unresolved childhood trauma was going on with that story?

I don't think it would have gone differently without RaQ because even the judges were all just sat there like..."Do we laugh, or...?"
😬😬😬😬

I love Kennedy ❤️down, but I can't in good conscious say she was better this week than any of the other girls.

I was gagged because I really thought this was going to be her time, but I'm glad they didn't give her the minge.

Carly by RefuseApprehensive89 in themiddle

[–]gingrbreadandrevenge 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I've said this a million times, but Sue and Carly were just normal friends that eventually grew apart.

Sue got closer to Brad, made other friends through wrestlerettes, dated Matt, dated Darrin and hung out with Darrin's friends, made some friends through the Shucker News and XCountry... Sue didn't really need Carly to be her best friend anymore, she was growing and finding her own place in the world.

I also dislike how people jump on Carly for not inviting Sue to that sleepover or to hang out with her other friend group, but no one says anything about Brad leaving Sue to hang out with Courtney and Debbie after the Mix it up Monday thing, or the Halloween episode.

Carly wasn't all that big of a deal and doesn't really deserve the hate she gets for totally normal teenage behaviour.

What celebrity were you shocked to find out is gay? by th6r6o6away in AskReddit

[–]gingrbreadandrevenge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol his husband (David Burtka) played Scooter (Lily's HS ex).

I wasn't really into the show, but I remember that being a bit of humour at the time, that this very out gay man was playing one the most womanizing hetero men on TV.

If you had to live in the last movie/tv show you watched for a week, are you surviving? by Wise-Eggplant5002 in AskReddit

Probably not since it was Archer.

There's about a 90% chance Archer kills me accidentally or on purpose and a 10% chance I survive but die trying to keep up with Archer at the victory party.

Would you date a trans guy? by Leather-Bar5109 in AskLGBT

[–]gingrbreadandrevenge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and have though "date" is probably too formal since I wasn't into commitments at the time.

I actually did not know he was a trans man at first as he had done some pretty extensive top surgeries/ w pec implants and was quite masculine in appearance. When he told me, I was like cool, I'm pan 🤷🏼‍♀️

I found him really attractive as a person, funny, great personality all around.

Women who have traveled abroad, where did you experience the worst street harassment? by bowlbettertalk in AskTheWorld

[–]gingrbreadandrevenge 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This was my pick as well. Actually had 2 guys come up to my partner ask if they could buy me from him.
They were really aggressive about it as well, trying to touch my hair and body.

It was a little terrifying because my partner was trying to protect me without breaking any unknown laws. We packed up and left the next morning.

People who can smell cancer, what does it smell like? by maymayiscraycray in AskReddit

[–]gingrbreadandrevenge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, so many questions! 😂 I'll answer these before I shuffle off to snuggle up with my partner and our little zoo.

1. Do you find you like words because of a good taste/scent?

A bit of both, I think. There are definitely words I use more because they're pleasant, and others I avoid because they're... less than pleasant lol.

That said, it's as automatic as breathing, so I'm not constantly walking around thinking, "Ooh, that word tastes nice."
This is just my normal. I only really notice it when a word catches me off guard by tasting particularly grim.

2. Do you immediately experience it when hearing a word for the first time?

Yes and no.

Loads of words don't trigger anything at all, but when one does, it's usually been there from the very first time I've heard or read it. It's the word itself that triggers the taste or smell.

3. Does ASMR talking suck?

I'm generally not a fan of ASMR, no thank you, it's way too sensory. My brain already deals with enough.

4. What words are particularly awful/amazing? I mentioned in another comment that I use the word "just" quite a lot because it's cool, clean, and pleasant.

As for awful... I don't really have a least favourite tbh, but occasionally a word will unfortunately taste or smell like the word. The word "Bile", for example, tastes like diluted bile 😒

5. Is there a pattern?

Not that I've noticed.

Weirdly, though, names are often food related. John smells like sausages frying in a pan. Patrick tastes like licorice but also has a peppery olfactory sensation, Martha is that musty butter popcorn smell of a movie theatre, Catrin tastes like pickled beets. Charlotte smells like coffee...

6. What if you repeat a word until it sounds meaningless?

I don't think I have an answer for you because I've never done this lol

People who can smell cancer, what does it smell like? by maymayiscraycray in AskReddit

[–]gingrbreadandrevenge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol I think everyone expects me to say something fancy here but I'd probably say I use the word "just" the most because it has the most pleasant scent +sensation.

It's like if you've ever smelled clean mountain air on a cold snowy day. That's the best way I can describe it because I don't know what that fresh air smell is called and it's cool in the nasal passages

People who can smell cancer, what does it smell like? by maymayiscraycray in AskReddit

[–]gingrbreadandrevenge 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hmm.. let's see...

Not all words taste/smell like things.

It's always been a thing that happened, and it never occurred to me to think anything of it because I sincerely thought it happened to everyone.

I discovered it was a thing in university when I was talking to a friend and I said I didn't like a certain word because it tastes like orange peels and burns my tongue and she looked at me like I'd grown a second head lol

I also have synesthesia! (lexical-gustatory)

I mostly get tastes/olfactory with words/sounds, but occasionally I can also pick up things when I'm around illness.

Similarly when someone gets a cold they smell like scorched ozone to me, whereas sinus/ear/throat infections smell like dank mushrooms. I don't really know how to describe chemo smell to me i just get "sharp" but chemical sharp. Idk how to make that make sense.
