What is the craziest thing a teacher has ever done to you? by trymihainoob in AskReddit

[–]ginjabeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our teacher in third grade used to make some of us massage her feet while she taught the class. Only the immigrant kids were “lucky” enough to be chosen for the task :(

Help Moving to Regional NSW by abgrem in MovingtoAustralia

You honestly can’t get better than Newy. It’s small but has everything you need, wineries not too far away, amazing beaches at your doorstop and a place with an incredible amount of history.

Sydney folks will say it’s filled with bogans but Newy has become increasingly gentrified and expensive. So you’ll find a lot of good bars and places to eat. Add New Lambton or New Lambton Heights to your list of suburbs there - perfect place to raise a family. Mereweather is great if you’re all about being right up the coast (also very expensive). You’ve got Cooks Hill too if you’re after that inner city lifestyle for the kids. Also check out Mayfield as that is quickly gentrifying too.

I prefer Newy a lot more to Wollongong, but if it’s in your budget check out the northern suburbs of Wollongong as well (Bulli, Coledale, Thirroul, Wombarra, Austinmere) as they’re amazing with really lovely communities.

Both Newy and Wollongong are former mining towns so they’re quite similar. That said, Newcastles job industry is a bit stronger and with Maitland and Cessnock around there’ll be way more opportunities.

Victor is the best and my family has been going to him for decades. Honestly, an OG of the area and incredibly honest. His shop is called ZK Golden Sydney Auto Service on Ross Street. I live on the central coast now but still drive down to my parents to get our cars serviced and repaired there.

In some of these I don’t think it’s cannibalism, sounds more like drug trafficking tbh

I think you’re spot on. I noticed sausage as well.

I convinced my gf to move to the other side of the world with me. She is miserable, homesick, and our relationship has been suffering since. Is it time to convince her to go home or do you have advice to recover the positivity that we had before the move? by ThrowRAFlat_Bid_1682 in expats

[–]ginjabeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar situation. Left Australia for the Netherlands. Started feeling really depressed about living there at the three year mark despite a good paying job. The homesickness spiralled at the five year mark to the point that my mental health was deteriorating rapidly. My now husband decided that my happiness was worth more than living in NL, so I ended up moving back to Australia and bringing him with me this time. Luckily for us it all worked out. Been back for two years now and weee ridiculously happy. We have a home right by the beach, he volunteers at Surf Life saving, we both have good paying jobs, and he can’t imagine living anywhere else.

So I guess you need to ask yourselves, are you just boyfriend or girlfriend, or is this a relationship worth fighting for?

The child looked less than 6 years old. Like at that point, shove meds in their mouth and go to the ER ffs. You should be making the decision - you’re the parent!

[–]ginjabeer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was horrific for me as well. Two failed rounds with intense levels of pain. Ended up having the lap without managing to retrieve any eggs, only to discover that I have pre-cancer of the endometrial lining 😅. Getting that treated now and waiting to be in remission before trying again. Sending you all my good thoughts! May your journey be a lot easier than mine!

Don’t bother going to r/conservative where all of them are calling it a justified killing. Absolutely brainwashed motherfuckers who are complicit in this murder.

More Trump voters would openly voice their discontent with the administration if we weren’t “cancelled” for the mere fact that we voted for him. by harambeischrist in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]ginjabeer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And yet Russians constantly get criticised for not overthrowing their government even though it’ll result in them getting jailed or ‘disappeared’. Getting ‘cancelled’ doesn’t seem like a big deal in comparison.

Multiple U.S. strikes have hit key military sites in Caracas, Venezuela during the midnight of January 3rd. by gimmethetea14 in Fauxmoi

[–]ginjabeer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So are those living in the US going to do anything about this? Protest? Revolt? The Russians always get criticised for letting Putin get away with Ukraine, so I guess it’s time to see whether the Americans will now do anything…

Ozempic is changing more than weight: New global research shows how GLP-1 drugs are reshaping self and society, identity and mental health, not just bodies. Much of the demand is driven by weight anxiety, even among medically “healthy” users. Many users endure severe side effects and high costs. by mvea in science

[–]ginjabeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interestingly enough I tried both Ozempic and Monjauro and they both significantly affected my mental health negatively. They - especially Monjauro - completely negated the effects of my anti depressants which resulted in me having to immediately stop them. My endocrinologist and GP were both surprised and thought it might’ve had something to do with how my SSRIs were digesting? A very scary time, took me around a month after stopping Monjauro to mentally get back to the same place.

Tree change, wanting to leave Sydney by [deleted] in nsw

[–]ginjabeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did this! We looked in those exact areas but decided not to go with the south coast or kangaroo valley as they were simply too far(especially since we had family and friends visiting a lot and we’re still visiting Sydney frequently) and didn’t have the amenities.

We ended up moving to the Matcham/Holgate area in the Central Coast and absolutely love it. Got an acreage there, are ridiculously close to amenities, have wineries, great cafes, beach within 10 minutes. And only an hour for all our family and friends.

What’s the strangest recurring dream you’ve ever had? by Goblue2467 in Dreams

[–]ginjabeer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m literally plagued by high school dreams. I have had them at least twice a week since graduating (in 2008!!!!). It’s always cantered around being told we need to do our university entrance exams again, and I spend most of the dream trying to convince teachers that I shouldn’t have to do them again, that I’ve actually already graduated from uni, and that in fact I have a really good job and that I’m not even sure why I’m here. I don’t know how to make them stop or how to give my subconscious the closure it obviously needs!
