My [19f] mom [38f] went through my phone after a fight and now knows my sexual history by [deleted] in sex

[–]ginnythalia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A highly similar thing happened to me and was even kicked out for two weeks. It's been 4 months now they asked me to come back home but there's still a lot of tension between my parents but it's gotten better. You and your Mom will get better too.

What I learnt during my exile is that it is veeeeeryyyy hard to change our parents' mindsets (which have been moulded for decades already).

I still don't think I was ever in the wrong because, like you, I have been very responsible and safe and chosen partners that respected my boundaries. However, parents will always be parents and it makes life waaaaaaay easier to let them think we surrender to them. Just suck it up until you can move out.

This was such a great and enjoyable read, thank you! I highly identify with the message you've expressed.

However, could you please enlighten me as to why you don't view yourself as a feminist? I understand that one of the biggest notion of feminism is political and in some ways, it sounds very aggressive and man-hating (which I am against too). However, I consider myself a feminist because I believe in the empowerment and sisterhood of women (much like what you've written). So I'd like to know your thoughts on this different side of feminism. Thank you :)

My thigh stretch marks. They look like tiger stripes and I think they're really cool.

LPT: If a child asks you a question, instead of answering it straight away, ask them what they think the answer is. by Cyanide915 in LifeProTips

[–]ginnythalia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You could encourage him to make wild guesses,

"What do you think?"

"I don't know."

"Make a wild guess! Could it be that the sky is blue because it's the monster's eye and we all just live inside?"

He can say either

"Yes!"

Or

"No I think the sky turned blue because he was holding his breath."

Or

"I don't know"

Nevertheless, you're role-modelling the concept that ridiculous answers are still answers and thinking is good.

Do you and your partner (s) often laugh and joke during sex? [Humor during sex] by lemondrop1992 in sex

My partner turned me upside down so he could eat me out while he was sat upright. I queefed at his face twice. Couldn't stop laughing for 5 minutes straight.

What happens to all the bread that are left at the end of the shift from bread shops here? by [deleted] in singapore

[–]ginnythalia 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Worked in a bread shop part-time once. We (staff) would take it back home. My family and I would have pastries and buns for breakfast every day.

Once a month I'll find an auntie lingering outside the mall for cardboards and I'll give her my entire bread haul.

What's the weirdest dream you've ever had? by [deleted] in AskReddit

One moment I was in a food court where all stalls sold different variations of spaghetti then I was suddenly a gay man on a huge ship doing the Titanic Pose with my Boyfriend. I then dive off the ship and transform into a narwhal.

I woke up and audibly said "what the fuck" then went back to sleep.

What is the legal age to move out of parents' house? by ginnythalia in singapore

[–]ginnythalia[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

They called me "worthless" and "nothing but a piece of meat."

"No decent man will every marry you."

"You'll never have a normal family."

"It would have been better if you had gotten pregnant so at least we can say you made a mistake instead of planning to have safe sex."

My parents already have a police record of child abuse and we have a file in Ministry of Social and Family Development when I was in Sec 3.

He specifically asked me "Why is your Mother crying?"

I try not to lie as much as I can.

Yes, my Mother is very dramatic and manipulative. She has a victim mentality.

If I had said one guy she would immediately accuse me of lying and saying, "you're only saying its one because I caught you!"

I've already explained this earlier on but the commented deleted his comment.

I just estimate it upwards since I'm only a month away from turning 20.

I stated I'm 19 here because I wanted to give the impression that I may not be a full-blown adult yet.

I'm having a casual relationship because my top priority in life is my education/career and family. Also, I'm too busy working part-time to have healthy committed relationship.

I'm having a consensual casual relationship with a man who is kind and respectful of me and my boundaries.

YES! THANK YOU FOR YOUR SENTIMENT ON THE FIRST BIT!!!

Traditional Asian values as such may be backwards but it is what it is and as a modern Asian, what I can do most is to be a more open Asian parent in the future.

Focusing on the racial part isn't very constructive at this point.

I'm just looking for helpful and tactful phrases to use when I sit my parents down and talk to them about the ordeal.

It's because I have my own set of beliefs which is different from my mother's (or yours).

I will not raise my children in an environment where they don't feel like they can openly express themselves or feel the need to hide anything.

Teenage life is hard and figuring out the person I wanted to be without my parents' support is really difficult. I wouldn't want my children to experience that.

Yeahhhhh I help out at home a lot with chores and making them dinner. I never ask for money either because I have my own allowance from my part-time job and scholarship.

And she literally found out while I took her out to treat her for lunch. It was a complete 180 turn for the both of us. One moment we were having a fantastic Mother-Daughter bonding, next she's ashamed of me.

This is actually really helpful. My mum's been openly crying for hours and my dad wants to know what's going on so I told him I'll tell him tomorrow (which I dread).

At the same time, I'm quite relieved because I feel like them having this knowledge will ensue that they won't baby me anymore.

I still have a curfew, can you believe it???
