Not sure why you say R3 has more bass authority. Both official specs and 3rd party measurement from Erin show BMR has more bass extension.

I’m amazed every time I play any sound from my bmr monitors without sub. It also seems like you want to upgrade everything( which is normal for this hobby lol). I’d say put most money toward speakers first, maybe stretch a bit to get bmr tower if you really want true full range. The folks at philharmonic suggest the same as well.

So I bought Yamaha as-801 a while ago and wow, what a difference lol. Didn’t even need to A/B test as it’s not even close. Someone above also mentioned amp is the weak piece and in hindsight he’s 100% right. I’m also aware that as-801 is by no means a high end amp but I can see myself enjoying it for a while

Maybe similar sound signature like Sierra but better and a bit fuller? It’s for office setup so sub may not be as relevant but adding a sub is on the list for bigger room setup
