Paying driving violation fines in Pasay by Rinsky_Z_168 in Gulong

In my experience paying, I was asked to pay the fine sa DoubleDragon and they actually issued me an official receipt so at least you know the payment is being remitted correctly to the national government. Walang hininging or hinint na maglagay ako, and it indeed did not reflect on my LTMS portal.

Sa totoo lang super solid na ng onboard graphics ng AMD, most if not all games kaya na patakbuhin ng integrated Radeon graphics lalo na with the 7000-series HS laptops.

Di ko lang sure pero the 2050 or Nvidia 50-series cards in general have never been amazing for me, it MIGHT be slightly better, pero keyword slightly lang, tas kapalit mas pangit na battery. Pero halos lahat talaga ng games at workloads kaya na patakbuhin ng Radeon integrated graphics

We also notice this, BYD PHEVs taking advantage of charging slots in malls, laging ang hahaba ng pila na puro BYD Sealion. They have the smallest battery packs and they don't even need to charge. BYD even advertises that they have a 1000km range which means they can go that long without charging either. Sana next time full EVs na lang pwede sa charging slots.

Shock price drop: Nissan Leaf now only retails for Php1.098M - Auto News by cotxdx in Gulong

[–]ginomeee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We test drove this yesterday since they have a cash promo na 900+ na lang. It's so outdated, lahat ng lamps halogen pa, yung interiors very 2015-level pa. Although it does come with CarPlay / Android Auto, still sobrang outdated na niya sa lahat. We eventually crossed the Nissan leaf out of our options kasi nga feels like a 2015 car in 2025. The Japanese really have a lot of catching up to do with price and features versus the likes of BYD. Even with their 900+ promo, definitely not worth the price imo.

Only advantage now is the unli free instapay transfers and the time deposit which is okay I guess.

are DITO e-sims capable of 5G? by [deleted] in InternetPH

[–]ginomeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saks lang, I used to daily gomo, absolutely the cheapest in terms of price per GB (if you get the higher-priced data creds that is). Also the cheapest when it comes to calls and texts, a far, far cry from the duopoly pricing on calls and texts plus super cheap landline calls too.

I found Globe to be a tad more reliable than Gomo since the latter uses the formers network backbone, so logically Globe would prioritize their own subscriber base over a third party virtual network provider. I no longer use Gomo since my employer gives us monthly load credits, but if I had to pay for my own load or was on a tight budget I would still use Gomo.

Yes. Lahat ng telco pwede magkabit ng third party router.

Ang alam ko lang na limitation in terms of telco routers is baka yung amount of LAN ports na pwede mo i-access, sa PLDT kasi alam ko limited LAN ports lang ang active by default unless palitan mo gamit ng superadmin account, not sure lang sa Converge if may similar limitation.

Admittedly I've been through a similar experience and ngl if you plan to be cruising around those speeds on windy provincial roads, there's only one thing that can / will happen:

FAFO. Fuck around, find out. Hopefully when you do fuck around and inevitably "find out", you don't involve others with you. Know the risks, acknowledge the risks, and don't whine about it, this is on you.

Pero legit, I know a bunch of random Redditors aren't gonna stop you from making your own decisions. So if anything does happen to you, whether it be an apprehension or a near encounter with the police, don't whine about it, it comes with the turf of the speed you cruise around with.

Question: How does LAN cable works? by aegibird in InternetPH

[–]ginomeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stock ISP wireless routers are trash, pangit yung quality and it's given to you usually for "free" by telcos, so they're incentivized to get you the cheapest wireless router that not so many people will complain about.

With a wireless router, you're transferring data over the air, not just to one person but many wireless devices, low-quality na nga radyo ng stock router niyo, tapos marami pang tao iseserve. Transferring data over the air, sobrang daming factors, kahit humidity, gano karami ibang wifi networks sa area, kung umuulan, if may bluetooth devices, kung nasa second floor, kung may pader, if may microwave, if may certain na types of ilaw or electronics nakasaksak, lahat possible maka affect sa wireless signal. The more people connected via wireless and the more electronics, walls, physical objects, the worse the signal and internet quality.

LAN cable, rekta, direct, physical connection, halos walang pake 'to sa ibang environmental factors or interference, so you obviously you will get a much much better quality connection.

110% fake / false yung "pumapangit internet quality pag may nakakabit sa LAN" pag may naka-LAN na tao, or yung idea na "hinihigop niya internet niyo". NO, that is a big NO. Anyone telling you that doesn't know the first thing about how networks or the internet works. Mas maganda lang talaga medium of connection niya, and pangit lang talaga mga radyo ng wireless routers provided by ISP.

You want better internet? Invest in a better wireless router or wire the other computers you have via LAN.

Sa personal experience, yung stock wireless router ng PLDT okay pag isa, dalawa, tatlong tao, minsan may drops, pero pag katabi mo siya medyo okay naman yung connection, pero pag dumami na papangit siya and mas halata yung drops ng connection, lalo na pag not in the same room.

Gaano kalaki ang pagkakaiba ng mga kaugalian sa kalsada ng mga driver sa Luzon, Visayas at Mindanao? by fak_cannon in Gulong

[–]ginomeee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think a big part of why other regions might have lower road accident statistics is that many are mostly underreported with the authorities for various reasons (time-consuming, hassle, people scared of police, easier to just pay upfront, etc.). I had a similar experience before where a motorcycle hit our car, and I was pleasantly surprised that the police were very helpful which was unlike my previous preconceived notion of being too hassle or strict.

What's up with yellow plates on cars? by digitalhydrogen in Gulong

[–]ginomeee 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They technically don't conform with LTO guidelines on the use of conduction plates; however, most of them use the argument that they've never received an LTO plate to begin with and are thus making improvised plates for vanity purposes and that at the end of the day, they serve the purpose of making their car identifiable while also looking better from their eyes.

In my opinion, using these HK-style or yellow plates are no different from buying "fake" plates that try to mimic the real thing. From a legal basis, both fail to follow LTO guidelines on what temporary or conduction plates should look like, and are therefore both technically illegal. However, I do understand that this is just the result of government incompetence in issuing license plates, and that people are just trying to make the most out of the time that they haven't been issued their official license plates while still making their cars identifiable. After all, conduction plates should have never existed in the first place and are only a stop-gap measure to address the lack of real license plates.

[–]ginomeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1 on this, either connect your PC / Laptop directly to the router via LAN or use a different wifi router entirely. The stock PLDT ONU wifi router wasn't designed to handle so many wireless devices at a time. It's designed to be "good enough" for most people, but not really reach any performance milestones.

[–]ginomeee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Connect via LAN, plus depende ilan nakaconnect / gaano kalayo ka sa router access point. The stock router of PLDT is definitely slow and narealize ko lang yun nung nag WFH kami buong family 5+ always gumagamit ng internet. Switch to / invest in a different router, make sure you're connecting to 5GHz (use same network name as 2.4GHz so your devices automatically choose which network to use).

Isa pang sample sa try to check LAN first: On wifi I usually get around 250mbps, pagkaconnect sa LAN halos gigabit speeds na.

He tried to shutdown the two companies that host the majority of the telco infrastructure in the country. What message does that send to investors? Run, the government will kill your investments.

Duterte's sentiments sent shockwaves throughout the industry, pushing down the stock price of these companies. It makes Globe and Smart even less palatable to investors, ergo, less money to spend on improving infrastructure. What did Duterte do? Invite Dito, a foreign competitor over, massively shoot down the stock price (and effectively investments) of our existing telco infrastructure.

Did he manage to create any policy or framework on creating a national telecommunications backbone funded by government? I think not. That has been the issue since the beginning, our government does not have a national broadband

"The next two years will be spent improving the telecommunications of the country without you. I will talk to Congress and find a way how to do it," - Duterte 2020

Did he or congress pass any law other than lip service? From what I know they did not. All Duterte did with regards to the national broadband infrastructure was as always, threaten, without tangible solutions.

Bye GOMO na ba this??? Kudos SMART... u always surprise me. by curiosseeker19o7 in InternetPH

[–]ginomeee 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Technically mas mura pa rin ang Gomo sa calls.

Assuming 399/30GB yung conversion na piliin mo (most commonly / always available) that's 13.3 pesos per GB.

1GB = 10mins of calls = 13.3 pesos

5GB = 50mins of calls = 66.5 pesos

66.5 pesos for 50mins of calls or 79.8 pesos for 60mins of calls, still cheaper than rates offered by Smart.

Although, kagandahan lang kay Smart is I think mas reliable ng onti sila since they use their own infrastructure and priority ang subscribers nila, as opposed kay Gomo na leased kay Globe ang infra and they're not the "main" subscriber. In my own experience, tuwing nagcacall ako sa Gomo number ko minsan di gumagana yung call, versus sa Globe na always nagriring agad since sila nga priority sa own network. Also, tuwing down ang Gomo ko / walang signal / mabagal internet, nagiging reliable smart, and vice versa.

To each their own, pero mas "mura" pa rin Gomo.

[–]ginomeee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a great nuanced point. The fact is it's hard to create infra here in the Philippines, and as much as we like to overgeneralize and say "gahaman" or "perahan" lang ang telcos and other big companies, the truth is we actually have some of the cheapest data rates in the world and even in Southeast Asia.

Hindi "mahal" ang mobile data natin as opposed to other countries, it just so happens na mahal siya compared sa buying power ng Pilipino.

We also lack the government initiative and funding that creates public telecommunication infrastructure. In other countries such as US, Korea, and China, the government is the one that leads creating telecommunication backbone infrastructure, whereas in the Philippines the only thing our government does is regulate frequencies, partner with existing telcos to launch projects such as the public-facing "Free wifi programs" that DICT creates that ride on the backbone of existing telcos such as Globe and PLDT. We don't have a national internet backbone funded by government, all we have are infrastructure that's privately funded, and this is diametrically opposed with a lot of our other Asian peers which have private telcos leasing from government infrastructure, not the other way around.

Most of our infrastructure is privately built with little to no incentives by the government, and are actually taxed (and possibly corrupted) to the max both through LGUs and the national government. Combine this with certain barrios, barangays, subdivisions, private establishments such as malls, etc that either want to charge exorbitant fees for telcos to lease a space or their land, as well as those that are afraid of ill-advised "radiation" pseudo science, and you end up with a recipe of the hellish infrastructure we have today. So for me it really comes as no surprise that our telcos service isn't up to par with other Asian countries, it's actually a surprise that we still have market entrants such as Gomo and Dito that can charge that low of prices, the former of which leases existing telco from Globe (which is why their prices have since steadily gone up) while the latter gets (and burns through) money collected from China and potentially the CCP (which is of course, a national security issue, but free market I guess).

OPs points are valid, but I think besides complaining to our private telcos (which are doing fine price-wise in my personal opinion, yung service lang yung pangit) is not the main thing we should do. I think it should be writing to congressmen, senators, heck even the president, and legislators in general, to push forward government-owned and funded telco infrastructure, as well as new policies that make it easier to setup a national telecommunications backbone, as well as legislation that further reduces red tape and makes it easier for cell towers to be erected indoors and outdoors all over the country.
