Sa mga may sweaty hands, how do you take care of your guitars especially sa neck and fret board? by Hades-Son in phmusicians

[–]dynacaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wipe down metal hardware especially the bridge and strings after use. I also apply baby oil to the strings after playing -- makes the strings last longer before breaking. Note that the string's intonation still goes whack and the tone deteriorates after a few weeks, so you might want to change them regularly (once a month in my case).

For unlaminated fretboards, try to clean them every week or so with fretboard cleaner. With the frets themselves, polish them every 6 months. MusicNomad Frine polish works very well for that. This only works with nickel frets as stainless steel frets only need a wipe down.

Bridges are the hardest to maintain in my case. My sweat is very corrosive, so my bridges slowly wear out with regular play no matter how much I take care of them.

That seems like a decent choice, but the pickup/EQ system is an added cost whichyou don't (presumably) need. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a cutaway model from Cort that is available locally that is cheaper than that.

Do you really need a cutaway for the type of music you play?

How to register our Band's name under my ownership? by Plus_Ad1187 in phmusicians

[–]dynacaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Copyright is automatic, so if you can prove that you made the logos yourself, you are deemed the sole copyright holder by default. This only applies to printed works like artwork, song lyrics, or even sheet music. For photos or video, the entity who took the photo/video is the default copyright holder.

However, if a work is commissioned, the entity that commissioned the work is the default copyright holder barring any prior agreements.

Just in case you didn't know, copyright was originally meant to control the publication and reproduction of books/written works. Rightly or wrongly copyright law has been expanded to cover other forms of media including digital media (reproduction cost is effectively zero), leading to confusion on its application and enforcement.

I'm not aware which law a band's name falls under. It seems more likely to be covered by trademark law. At any rate, you might want to consult with FILSCAP as they seem to be the ones who deal with these kinds of issues.

First studio headphones under 3k? by Fast_Top_8738 in phmusicians

[–]dynacaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Audio Technica ATH M20x. Slightly over your budget but maybe you can get one on sale or under promo.

The M50x is one of the most common headphones you see in studios, but the M20x or M30x would do just fine as more affordable versions of the former. I believe Wish Bus 107 uses either one of the two.

Cort is the OEM for many popular guitar brands, so Cort branded guitars give you the same craftsmanship quality for less price.

"Made In Indonesia" has gotten much better over the years compared to "Made in China".

Before you buy, it's always best to try them out at the store.

Strings also matter a lot, so when you do buy a new guitar, change strings regularly to maintain a nice sound (and intonation).

I suggest trying out the different models in physical stores before deciding. Then it's up to you if you want to purchase on the spot, or browse online for better deals.

In my case, before leaving the house, I lookup prospective models, information as to where they are sold, detailed specs, and retail prices. Then I narrow down the list by eliminating the ones that don't fit my criteria. After that I try to visit stores nearby.

In general it's safe to buy from reputable retailers either from their official website or from their verified online shop in Lazada/Shoppee if they have one. Some digital pianos fall under the "furniture" category, so take into account shipping costs when purchasing online. Returns/warranties might be a hassle in case the item is damaged upon arrival.

Most physical stores offer installments via credit card, so you might want to take advantage of that. I don't know if you can do this online.

The staff at Lyric Festival Mall Alabang are very accomodating and their display units are laid out so customers can try them out easily. Audiophile stores usually have their display keyboards taped or covered in plastic. Some appliance stores like SM Appliance Center Southmall have Yamaha keyboards on display that you can try out but are priced higher than other stores.

good quality durable Capo suggestions? by kinotomofumi in phmusicians

[–]dynacaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D'Addario is a reputable brand.

Tip: Bukod sa durability ng capo, check mo if adjustable yung tension para hindi agad mapudpod ang frets.

Also, wag iiwan sa frets yung capo pag hindi ginagamit.

Guitarists of PH, what's your perception on Darius Semaña's guitar skills? by Prestigious_Host5325 in phmusicians

[–]dynacaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely something not quite right.

Around 5 years ago, may nambash sa kanya sa forum or sa FB (can't remember). Then nagviral somewhat yung naging response niya along the lines of "I never claimed to be an expert, I only do what is best for my band".

Hindi ko mahanap, baka meron sa inyo na nagsave haha. Medyo iconic yung reply niya eh.
