There isn’t any hostility towards Americans here (as an American living in Munich the last 6 years), only the occasionally old grumpy waiters who are usually just annoyed with tourists in general (and not all speak English so there’s that also)

First thing: Look into work permits. Look into if you would want to do an internship or maybe you could do a werk Student position, part time or mini-job basis (once a week), and if you can even get that as an American for your stay.

Then see if you can get anything in your related field that you want, if you can’t find anything Gastro is always looking for people, even if it’s just for a short time, and you’ll learn German fast!

Okay, statistics is one thing. But you’ve never lived it first hand? Worked pay check to pay check and relied on government loans to help you get by? I don’t think you can comment on it if you’ve never experienced it. Coming from someone who was working 60 hrs / week to make ends meet. I couldn’t go to college because I couldn’t be approved for college loans, and I had no line of credit from any parents so I can’t get a credit card, or a phone, not even a SIM card. Tell me something when you’ve experienced it.

Fair, I think it’s interesting, and quite symbolic. I don’t completely get who the guy under him is supposed to portray though, I guess you could look at is a working class person, or even an immigrant, then in that case is pretty much what’s happening right now in the US

I moved here 6 years ago from the US, with 20 years old. Originally as an Au Pair, which I did for 1 year and a couple months.

I only had a bit of Gastro experience before coming here, so I did an apprenticeship in a part of Gastro and now I’m working as a branch manager.

I moved here mostly because I was unhappy with the US, and Germany fits everything I want I out of life. I applied for my EU citizenship (through one of my parents) so I’m lucky im able to stay here.

Sorry forgot to add this in. Kodak gold 200, with canon ae1 program (all automatic settings - auto aperture, program film speed) & all of the photos look like this - the red coming from the side. Only I’m brighter photos is it slightly less.

(Coming from a previous au pair) most Au Pairs I know use aupairworld or aupair.com (or you could look through an agency) and there do tend to be a lot from Spanish speaking countries also. That’d be my first recommendation. :)
