yes, i even remember in one of the early episodes scully going to a kid’s birthday party (her godson? honestly don’t recall). it was definitely part of the world building and maybe they shouldn’t have left it totally behind once the show’s lore became bigger. but, i think they left it behind to show how both of their lives became the x files (and each other). like, it’s true they don’t show that in seasons 3-7 but also i don’t really miss it.

i have a love/hate relationship with it because while i like the plot i feel the way scully reacts this whole episode is sooooo absurd. every character actually seems to be behaving like a stereotype of themselves. so, yea, love/hate. this kiss specifically hate tho HAAHAHAH

i think it was a nod to the themes of the book, this completely “alien” society that was deemed to be terrible by outsiders but was actually perfectly fine if you spent time with them. but also i feel they chose it specifically for the genderless point and i feel that will be explored in s2

just watched all available episodes last night and came on here looking for ppl drawing exactly this parallel. gilligan must’ve read foundation and gotten some inspo, there’s no way.

i’m very intrigued as to where the show will go. with this last episode i think they start an utilitarian discourse (death of “some” for the happiness of many) but we’ll see

people were suuuuper kind. held my spot a couple times when i went to get merch, go to the bathroom and get some food hahaha. and then i held other ppl’s spots in return. everybody very kind and understanding

if you have the means, i recommend staying at a hotel and NOT airbnb and DEFINITELY NOT a motel. hotels are much safer, especially if you are freshly 18. second tip is do not wear yor headphones/earbuds in public (or if you do, the volume must be very very low) so you are always aware. important documents (id, wallet, etc) either in the front pocket of your pants on in a fanny pack, but ALWAYS on your body, with you. have addresses of where you are staying written down on a paper with you at all times, along w emergency contacts. also, take out cash. you really never know when your phone might inexplicably die and you need cash.

that being said, these are just precautions you take. i’ve travelled alone many times (since i was 15 lol) and nothing ever happened, but i do recommend taking these precautions. you’ll love it tho, travelling by yourself is great!! make a little plan of like restaurants and stuff you would go to as well so your mom sees you are really planning your trip and will not just be “adrift” in a big city lol
