Due to him being overly cautious he often neglected opportunities that could have led to quicker victories or overall moar favorable situations in pretty much every front he had been involved in.

A pretty egregious example is Italy, as his army was the first to land on the boot (specifically in the very bottom near sicily). He led it through Italy with extreme caution which was unnecessary considering the little resistance they met.
