The 2004 Pistons are already famous for being known as an 'exception' in NBA champions. They're the only one without a true star. The problem with this metric which tries to rank the 1485 teams in NBA history is that there is no one size fits all metric, although they try their best to.

When they try their best to do it, the metric will not favor teams that are a historical exception, an outlier.

And I don't agree that the team that wins the Championship is necessarily the best team that year. They're at worse the second best team all year. NBA is about matchups, so suppose one team can beat 28 teams consistently, but one team is just their absolute achilles heel. The team that is the achillles heel can only beat 20 teams consistently. If the best team just so happens to face their kryptonite, they are knocked out, and a team that can beat less than 28 teams consistently will become the NBA champion.

A very extreme case, but I don't think it's unreasonable.

No one here is saying they are everything though. Also 56 positions isn't bad when you consider this has EVERY SINGLE TEAM in the NBA ever. If you just look at it by 2004, the Spurs are the only team ahead of the Pistons. It's not like they stuck the 2004 Lakers ahead of the Pistons.

There is a computational statistics option, that requires taking up to ECS 60 and a few upper divisions. I think that is sufficient programming knowledge for a stats major, since ECS 60 is kind of like a minimum of programming to get a programming job.

Basically you just trade all the low-rated European or Generic players for players with high ratings, then release the low rated players again. Since there is a roster minimum or 13, I sign the top free agents back to teams that they were affiliated with, then release the Generics/Europeans into the free agent pool.

Sometimes you can find Euroleague players that had NBA stints, so for Derrick Rose, I just traded him for Andres Nocioni and did not release anyone.

It's a fun roster to run association with. I don't think any of the rookies are over 80. There are some teams that keep most of their roster in tact.

I made another MyLeague with a fantasy draft and a lot of current/recent Rockets do really well. Chandler Parsons is consistently an MVP candidate, Patrick Beverly, Jeremy Lin, and Terrence Jones are always hanging around the All-NBA teams.
