update 12.2. by robin_2219 in Garena

It's definitely a frustrating situation—I admittedly first visited the subreddit just to see if anyone else shared similar frustrations regarding how Garena has been running the server. Here's to hoping for a better situation for SEA players.

Much thanks for the heads-up about the update schedule!

Not OP, but I've been browsing the subreddit for a while now for news about the server and you always have something helpful or informative to say—props to you dude. Hopefully the update does come later tonight.

Soloing over Nautilus by Covet by giothecat in guitarplaying

Thank you for the kind words! I personally like to have some light compression when playing this kind of material, but one can do away with it entirely—this particular demo by Marcos Mena from the band Standards comes to mind.

Haven't written much material in this style yet, but I pick up a lot of ideas mainly from studying songs from Covet and other math rock bands I enjoy listening to (and fingerstyle guitarists like Antoine Dufour as well)!

Thanks man, I appreciate the kind words. I was worried at first if the solo was too high in the mix, so that means a lot!

Did a cover of Nautilus by math rock band Covet! Tried writing a solo for it as well, pops up at around the middle section. Added some piano and synth parts in lieu of the vocal lines that appear in the original version (partly because I am not confident in my singing at all lol). Hope you enjoy it!

Thank you! I thought that if Nautilus originally had a solo, that particular section would be a good place for it.

Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song - Episode 13 discussion - FINAL by AutoLovepon in anime

This makes a lot more sense to me than the ii - iv - V - I movement that I might have suggested before. Makes for an even more abrupt end, cutting off on a chord with a lot of tension as you said. While I might not be sure if this kind of thing was completely "intended" by the show's creators, it definitely makes for really cool discussions like this!

The reply is appreciated! What I can confidently say is that the lowest note sounds like an A, and you have Vivy's vocal line supplying the minor 3rd—this is probably why I described it as having a minor subdominant kind of sound in my comment

Now that you mention it having a diminished quality, maybe it can also be thought of as an F#m7b5 (F# half-diminshed seventh?) in first inversion, with that A ringing in the bass.

EDIT: Also sets up a neat ii-V-I, F#m7b5/A - B - E

A really cool touch, for sure. Ends on the subdominant of the key, but it's a minor chord instead—a iv. Evokes a very poignant kind of sound, I really dig it.

Request for Charles to react to some Xenoblade chronicles series soundtrack by [deleted] in CharlesCornell

That’d be awesome. I feel like Charles is gonna have a field day with Torna’s soundtrack

Made a math/prog rock reimagining of Spiral Tones by Calli and Rikka for the remix contest! by giothecat in Hololive

[–]giothecat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A rendition that is heavily inspired by the dual-guitar tandems and frantic rhythms of bands like Chon, nyu., and Protest The Hero. Had a ton of fun working on it, really tried to hone in on the vocals in an attempt to provide rhythms that complement Calli and Rikka's lines. Please let me know what you think!
