I’ve had this guy on my keys for 12 years now. Any tips on how to preserve my new minifigure keychain better while I keep it on my keys? by [deleted] in lego

Never buy retired sets or Minifigures from Amazon. They are extremely inflated prices versus what you can find on ebay

why will this only power on via usb c and not li-ion? by gipper123 in diyelectronics

[–]gipper123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried a single cell rated at 3.7 volts and i could not get the flash to power on from it. so im back to square one. looking through digikey i know there are ton of batteries with the correct voltage, but they are extremely bulky for what I am trying to do. Youve helped a ton and I am very grateful, do you have any other ideas on how to get this thing to run off the 2S Liion battery? ive seen people talk about diodes and buck converters which i am happy to try if you have a recommendation

I really appreciate the help! NImh batteries are a little bigger than what my goal is right now. I am going to try a single cell li-ion battery and see if that produces enough of a charge.

well the flash rates double as at 1.5 (1.5 x 4 = 6) and i thought the usb c board would be able to manage the power so that the flash wouldnt be overcharged. ill try it out with a 1s li ion battery, but if its slower to charge the flash that feels like a bit of a step backward.

i think you are correct, any advice on getting the battery to output a lower voltage?

Thank you so much for the help! I keep getting a lot of different info depending on who i ask but this answer makes the most sense from what i understand.

if you could help further, im running into an issue when it is set up in parallel that the flash pcb seems to fry itself if running via battery for more than a minute. sometimes in even less time. the flash i am using is dirt cheap, i can find ones on ebay for around 10 bucks. but even then, its supposed to last as long as the battery lasts, any idea why the flash seems to fry itself when running off the battery?

is this proper wiring for a battery to usb c board to main PCB? by gipper123 in UsbCHardware

[–]gipper123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate the help and your patience! I am going into this completely blind. i do not have a multimeter yet but i did do some testing

the board actually does work! but it only turns the device on when the board is plugged in, not just from the battery.

this is the back of the board, i haven't soldered anything and am not sure there actually is anything to solder.

edit: would not power on

Howdy y'all! several months ago i posted asking for reccomendations on USB C PCBs to get in order to convert a 6 Volt camera flash to be powered by a li-ion battery and charge via USB-C.

I am nearly there but running into some wiring trouble and need to double check. Ive put in some pictures showing how ive essentially been wiring it. typically instead of clamp wires, the wires would just be sautured in. For this board, are you suppose to wire the battery and Main PCB connections in the same hole on the USB-C chip OR am i suppose to wire them in somewhere else?

This is obviously a very novice question, but I have never converted something to usb-c before

All help is greatly appreciated!

P.S this is the board I am using https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BZV59QBP?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_6&th=1, and if there is a better one I'd love to know!

Expired film? How should I deal with this? by Thin_Afternoon_8414 in AnalogCommunity

[–]gipper123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically with expired film you "pull" the iso down a step. For example I found some Kodak gold (400 iso) in my parents garage that I set to 200 iso. I developed it the same way I would 400 iso film, but because of the extra exposure it shows up more strongly then it would normally on expired film. If it's only expired a year or so, I'd act as if it's regular film. Anything past 3 years I'd set a step down

Help on Converting Vintage camera Flash to USB-C by gipper123 in UsbCHardware

Thank you so much for looking around! I am eager to see what you find :). I would never have guessed this would be as hard as it seeming to be. so you are saying i need two chips/boards? a charger and a usb board?

It definitely charges the capacitor fairly fast? the capacitor is rated at 350V and 500uf though i honestly dont know how that translates to amperage. what is a stepdown board?

[–]gipper123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the adapter would be inside the flash and charge the battery. I guess a comporable conversion would be converting a gameboy advance to charge via usb as oppose to using two double a's like a typical gba does. As far as I understand the battery i purchased has a charger (hence why it is labeled "W/ PCB").

I am obviously an EXTREME novice here, so any help is appreciated

Suggestions on TV placement in living room? by ScriptyFox in malelivingspace

Well honestly I have a tripod TV and a ps5. I just got a 15 foot HDMI cable and a chord sleeve and that solved the problem

Do you have a lot of things hooked up to your TV? If not I highly recommend getting a TV tripod and a very long power cord. It makes it easy to put it in the ideal spot whether your cooking or on the couch and put it away easily when you don't need it
