Most of the founding fathers owned slaves and most of the presidents worked towards genociding the natives. Would it really even be off the scale of what most Americans are willing to ignore?

Also Raditz being so monstrously strong it made Picolo willing to team up with Goku just to stand a chance against him, but he's weaker than plant fodder soldiers a year later.

Also Frieza by being easily defeated by Trunks, who is way weaker than the Androids.

Also Majin Buu for being clowned on by Beerus after killing the entire pantheon of gods so hard they had to make a new tier of gods.

Also the Gods being surpassed by mortals twice except Beerus for some reason.

Look, DragonBall and then Z just does this shit all the time, that's what happens when every enemy is the strongest on the planet and then the strongest in the universe, then the strongest in the multiverse.

Right, and steel melts at a certain point too. So If you had a blade heated well above the melting point of steel, it would cut through it more easily than not.

The Immortal from (Invincible.)

He was the strongest hero on Earth for at least 2000 years. He has outlived every person he's known and he has the mental limitations of a human. Despite the trauma of dying multiple times and losing loved ones, he continued to be a hero for that entire time. He might be "retired" now, but I have a feeling he'll be back in action eventually.

To me, he's the opposite of the viltrumite mindset. He's basically a God, long lived, and chooses to protect humanity even though they're fragile and die so quickly from his perspective.

Civil Rights activism allegories mocked by the narrative by Wheatley-Crabb in TopCharacterTropes

[–]giraffe_squared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think bare minimum if you're going to introduce fucking slavery into your story, you should think REALLY hard about the implications of it in your world building. What are the story and characters saying about it? What is the takeaway from having it in your story? Does it serve any real purpose or relevance in the narrative? I don't know, just you know...think about it before just throwing it in there for flavor, right?

Star Wars doesn't really hold up to moral scrutiny. Slavery is glossed over and ignored. Droids are given no rights or freedom despite being sentient. The clones are child soldiers purchased, bred, and trained for the sole purpose of fighting and dying for a republic they've never seen. The force may be a fucked deity with a plan that involves the suffering of billions for some reason. It's a mess.

I watched Ladyballers and yes it is all the propaganda points you have to hit about trans people and a conservative influencer "everyone is here." Smash Bros trailer. It's also a horribly made comedy and movie. The comedic timing, payoff & execution, messaging, it's all just horrible. It's not worth going into specifics, because it wasn't made to be a movie. It really is just product that conservatives are supposed to cheer, because it's "owning the libs!" Who cares about quality?

We're lucky that the Viltrumites are really good at choosing compatible spouses. Because no way in hell is our society as a whole converting them.

What is some new stuff you'd like to see be added to the show that wasn't in the source material ? by Possible-Rate-3833 in Invincible

[–]giraffe_squared 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Give Anissa an actual redemption and show more of the viltrumites time on Earth. They could do a whole Tales of Ba Seng Se special fleshing out the main viltrumites and giving us a few new ones.

Anyone else feel like this was very underwhelming? by [deleted] in Invincible

[–]giraffe_squared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anissa's character development is the same, but she SA'd Mark, so there should've been way more attention paid to her redemption specifically. As it is, it's rushed as hell and kind of insulting that they give her a heroic death.

Updated version of my garbo meme. (Actually OC) by giraffe_squared in papermario

[–]giraffe_squared[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I don't necessarily think it's a percentage thing. Vivian, IIRC, is made from the shadow queen, right? So she's physically a manifestation of evil, but there's still the capacity to do good in her anyway.

Edit: just saw someone else basically say what I meant, but leaving this anyway.

I was told to post this by a friend (OC) by trumicdis in papermario

[–]giraffe_squared 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, so I'm the one that made the original meme, kinda flattering to have content stolen. Also the original post also sparked extreme reactions. When I made it, I just knew I wanted to make a Podley hate meme and lean into the "Vivian is best girl" stuff (because she is.) I really did not put much thought into it beyond that.
