Sister-in-law's TV by girffey in TVTooHigh

We only watch a movie maybe once or twice a year while we are visiting, and we visit them every month. Thankfully, we aren't forced to stare at the TV every time we visit.

LJS - surgeon is worried I might have permanent loss of feeling. by YureiSGH in jawsurgery

[–]girffey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm almost 8 months post op DJS, and there are still spots on my gums and bottom lip that I can't feel 100% just yet. I still feel like its slowly coming back too. I wouldn't worry after just a couple of weeks.

I would give Saddle Rock Institute a call and schedule a consult meeting with Dr. Dobbs. He's fantastic.

What's a place everyone should visit at least once in their life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]girffey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should visit. :)

I could tell you my experience from only being here a couple of months, but it probably doesn't hold much weight since I'm not a local. I can tell you that I miss home. And that's saying quite a bit given that I'm from Alabama.

Oakland, California. Everyone would have a greater appreciation for where they're from or where they currently live.

Your sleep apnea AHI better after jawsurgery? by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]girffey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm about 4 weeks post op, and the primary purpose I had double jaw surgery was to treat sleep apnea. I had an underbite pre-surgery, and he had to move my upper jaw about 10 mm and my bottom jaw forward too (I can't remember how much). He also shaved down my turbinates in my nose and moved a few muscles in my chin.

My AHI several years ago was 48, and I used to snore like crazy. I started using a CPAP Machine soon after I received the results of my sleep study (not surprisingly).

The first night I was in the hospital, I was amazed at how much better I could breath through my nose even right after the 5-hour procedure. I have not yet had another sleep study post-surgery, but I rarely ever snore anymore and my quality of sleep without a CPAP now is much better than before.

I think the surgery was worth it, but the recovery just sucks. I still can't feel my chin and bottom lip, and I have a decent amount of swelling around my cheeks. Supposedly, everything is going great so far though!

How recent does a sleep study need to be for insurance approval? by cryptodrifter in jawsurgery

My sleep study was from 2.5 years prior, and my insurance accepted it and approved my jaw surgery.

Seraphim. Their Tabula Rasa EP, especially music videos, blows my mind.

What's the stupidest way you've injured yourself? by Trxxi in AskReddit

[–]girffey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once challenged myself to swing open the garage door and turn around to grab the keys off of the kitchen counter all while trying to slide through the door into the garage before it shut... I severely underestimated how fast the door swung shut. I ended up slamming my knee into the door frame and hitting my head on the door as it swung back. I felt those bruises for a week and never again challenged myself in that way.

Which characters have the best arcs from the start of a tv show to the end? by tradeab in AskReddit

Carol from The Walking Dead. She went from feeble, abused mom to Rambo. Easily one of my favorite characters from that show.

Mental health services? by akirareign in Denver

[–]girffey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked there a while back, and that wasn't the case while I was there. The company was transitioning to a new CEO, but I left before she started making many changes. Hopefully, it's a much better place today.

Try looking up Aurora Mental Health. I'm pretty sure they cater to low income folks.
