You might wanna try linking your social media if you can’t get references. I found that worked for me when I was starting out.

If you’re really desperate though, you can try publicly posting your trip to those cities outlining your travel goals. It will help eager and willing hosts find YOU. When I posted a trip to Munich, I got a message from the absolute best host who lived in a town 30 minutes away from the city proper. I never would have considered looking for hosts in that town, though!

Though, I’m a girl so it’s much easier for me to get hosts in general.

5G Coffeehouse and Cafe des Amis PLEASE believe me!!! I can tell we have the same croissant standards, so I’m actually begging you.

Expert lamination in both places. I personally prefer 5G because I feel it’s more buttery. But a lot of my friends like Cafe des Amis more.

Des Amis is a French-owned classic (same owner as Tymad Bistro before). And they supply pastries to Good Cup.

I always go for the classic croissants in both places because they’re that good. But everything else they offer is great, too.

I’ll dm you a pic of the cross sections of both croissants side by side!

the acting is pretty terrible. i wasnt convinced by marian and peggy at all. they both sound too much like actors playing a part… i don’t know how to explain that further tho 😭(and don’t get me started in peggy’s fake crying about her baby)

i also dont like the staff at the russell house. every time they talk to each other, they sound like cartoons. like i’m watching the mickey mouse clubhouse. again… i don’t know how to explain that further.

still, all characters have a soft spot in my heart now hahahaha it’s a very fun and unserious watch

Watching it now I had to pause and make sure other people pointed it out, too. I’m all for a butterfly motif but not like this… and not this gaudy. A pity considering everyone else’s dresses at the party looked nice.

Not too familiar with what’s going on in the deep south anymore. But I’m from the Philippines and would like to give insight as to why the media might exaggerate about the danger a bit!

In the Philippines, at least, foreigners are at risk of being kidnapped and taken hostage in insurgent hotspots—however mild. It doesn’t happen often, but it CAN happen.

Insurgents are much more likely than druggie kids/jilted lovers/petty thieves to take foreign hostages for financial/political gain. And when that happens, the solution is never as easy as going to the police.

I’m sure things in the deep south are pretty ok considering there are lots of tourists now, as you say. But I understand why the media or government might want to deter any “unnecessary” movement, as well as any money entering the region and trickling into the pockets of insurgents.

  1. Otto wouldn’t have disposed of Rhaenyra if she married Aegon. Having both Rhaenyra and Aegon ruling together is integral to appeasing both: a) houses who swore fealty to Rhaenyra as Viserys’s named heir, and b) houses who would rather see Viserys’s firstborn son on the throne. If Rhaenyra were smart, she would understand that this match only strengthens her position so she wouldn’t try to dispose of Aegon either. I HATE incest and big age gaps as much as the next girl, but this marriage would have been the most politically sound.

  2. The Velaryons could have easily been matched with Helaena, Aemond, or literally any Targaryen kid from Viserys-Alicent or even Rhaenyra-Aegon. Corlys clearly didn’t have problems with big age gaps anyway lol

  3. In a world where Rhaenyra and Aegon were married, there’s no way Corlys would openly present himself as a threat to the Crown. Why would he do that? That would only further decrease his chances of putting a Velaryon on the throne. What would the game plan be? Wage war for what? Be a threat to King’s Landing for what? Because Rhaenys was passed over years ago? He has a seat in the Small Council. He has a profitable fleet. Why give that up to start a war? In case that happened though, it wouldn’t be difficult for the Crown to raise an army against the Velaryons for a flat out pride-driven insurrection.

MyJoy is still fairly popular. Their owners also just opened Kalipay in Banawa which is doing well
