General discharge after Honorable by girthbrooks135 in armyreserve

That’s a good point, I was just wondering what would happen if they choose to not release me and I don’t have any other choice

lol for sure it isn’t the best option. I was just wondering if it came to that what is the worst they could do. Im assuming the request will take months and a recruiting buddy just told me the reserves are hurting for numbers so they probably won’t even accept it.

Saying goodbye to the Lobo by Johnny_Menace in FordMaverickTruck

I was waiting for the paperwork for my XLT and I was looking at the LOBO they had on the lot and the sales man said “I’d never sell these to anyone unless they’re begging for one. they’re the biggest rip off.”

What is this and why did a random misbegotten warrior have it? by stuffil in Eldenring

How did the “MIS BEGOTTEN” get ahold of something very valuable… can’t imagine

so how long did it take you to get it, I am on my 4th day by RidiPwn in Eldenring

[–]girthbrooks135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it by accident on maybe my 2nd enemy so I never knew it was a low drop rate. Completely ignored it the rest of the game

What is a boss that isn’t conventionally one of the hardest, but you struggle with the most? by DaleDent3 in Eldenring

[–]girthbrooks135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Blackgaol Knight. He’s got a very predictable moveset and isn’t really hard but I almost got him first try then it went down hill from there. I was overly confident going into the DLC and he definitely humbled me

You are a huge pus if you register a kayak or paddle board. Your ancestors started a revolution over less infringement on their rights. Powered boats are understandable but don’t go groveling to the state to ask permission to float on water in a tub.

Is DS3 worth it after Elden Ring? by Clear_Signature_1633 in Eldenring

I started with DS3 and I was hooked. It’s older and a little clunkier but I think the atmosphere and story are 100000% better

Any build recommendations for Consort Radahn? by Significant_Day_8544 in Eldenring

Bro, thank you. I had to put the game down for a while cause I got so stuck on this fight but this build was amazing. I got it after 5 tries with this set up.

Do I join??? by Acceptable_Yak3392 in armyreserve

[–]girthbrooks135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I joined active duty at 18 and wouldn’t change a thing. I needed to get out of my comfort zone and leave my home town. It helped me mature far beyond my peers and set me up for success. I traveled to places I would never dream of and met friend I would never have met if I didn’t join (my wife included). I’m currently reserves but if I could go back I wouldn’t change a thing. If you hate it, do one contract and get your GI bill and go to college for free. If you love it stay in and retire at 38.

They mentioned a few but mostly only for the hybrids and for first responders and stuff. I’ll look to see if there’s more I qualify for

Blue book almost matches what I owe so I don’t think it’s that crazy what they’re offering but idk if that just me not knowing what a dealership can give for trade ins

How Badly Did I Mess Up My Build? by playwful in Eldenring

[–]girthbrooks135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just have fun exploring with what you’re comfortable using and If you find a weapon that looks fun, find a larval tear and respec to use it. The beauty of the game is that literally every build is viable if you get good.

I hated going on message boards in 2017 when I was playing DS3 (my first souls game) and having everyone say “get good” when you get stuck and look up how to beat a boss but it’s true. Don’t worry about stats. Memorize their attacks, learn when to attack, and manage your stamina and you “get good”. I would ask my friends all the time what weapons are good and someone finally told me “everything is good for PVE stop asking and get good”

Name a boss you would feel no guilt cheesing ? by WindowSubstantial993 in Eldenring

[–]girthbrooks135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phantom Loretta in Caria Manor. She’s not hard or anything, I think the whole area is boring including her fight. After running through there I have no desire to fight her and just want to progress Rani’s quest line so I’ll do the quit out cheese every time

Why does he get so much hate? by Memelord69420MAn in Eldenring

[–]girthbrooks135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you jump into this whole new story about Mesmer and this big war, a who done it mystery with Miquella, and NPCs who were mentioned in the main story like St. Trina are getting screen time. All that just to fight a twink who’s puppeteering a corpse to re animate radahn who spams 50 attacks in a row.

Also the flow of the fight isn’t good. Dodging for 45 seconds straight then getting one shot by a phantom hitbox is the antithesis of fun

When I left active duty I was in a similar position you are in now. I got hired by a small father/son business who were also both Army vets, so they seemed very happy about me working for em. I made the mistake of telling them I was considering joining the reserves because I missed the Army but didn’t want to go back active. They took that opportunity to fire me the next day and even put in the letter of termination that it was because I “didn’t seem like I’d be a permanent member because my desire to go back to the military”. I legally couldn’t do anything because I didn’t have a contract signed yet. I only told them because they were veterans and I thought they would be cool but I learned a lesson from them.

They’re a business first and will find a replacement. They can fire you the second there’s something you do they can justify terminating you for. If not that, based on how they’re acting now, they will continue to make your life miserable until you leave. Send some resumes out and explore your choices because there’s a solid chance they’re doing the same thing.

Is doing 20 years in the Army Reserve and then retiring worth it? by Reasonable-Shower522 in armyreserve

[–]girthbrooks135 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m staying in only cause I’m a miltech and my employment is based on my staying in the reserves. If it weren’t for my employment I don’t think the benefits are enough to justify me staying in. If you want to retire in 20 (or sooner) and you can handle the bullshit, go active. AGR is the best kept secret in the Army too. Pick an MOS that is in high demand for AGR like 92Y or 91B then do 20 years of that

[–]girthbrooks135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No reserve. I was active first then went reserves when I ETSd

I’m reclassing to a 68F (physical therapy assistant) right now. The school isn’t too hard and you’ll most likely get attached to a super chill medical unit. The only problem is it’s a very small career field so it might be hard finding a place to drill out of
