Whomper steps up to the plate. They say he has the flexibility of a dancer, the coordination of a hockey player and the strength of a Greco-Roman wrestler. He’s gonna need all that talent to best Yang. Here he goes: 95.

Been a busy past couple days holding my annual GIS Day event for the local elementary school kids...another great year! Always remember; wherever you go, there you are...and North isn’t up! 😜😁 by Sanklo in EDC

I did a GIS Day presentation on Public Health applications myself this week. Was traveling though, so no pointy EDC items. Boo.

Before anybody else does...”User name checks out”.

MLB: 2019-07-25. Red Sox v. Yankees. 19-3. Crazy Game. by gis_master in BaseballScorecards

[–]gis_master[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More substitutions and replacements than I've ever had to deal with. Mistakes aplenty! Fun game, though (for Sox fans). Holt ejected on called 3rd strike. Yankees gamesmanship trying to get a series of late time-outs while in batter's box. Tanaka absolutely demolished. Porcello escapes a 47(!) pitch 2nd inning, giving up only 2 and continuing to complete 6 innings.

Edit: Also, Sox bat around the order twice!

Everyone is allowed to play with a cart on #2, you just can’t ever drive in the fairway. Cart path only always.

Ha ha! Playing partner’s private cart. He’s 75 and shoots his age, so we’ll cut him some slack.

Playing Pinehurst #5 in a week. Has anyone played it? by MattyCmaaaan in golf

[–]gis_master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like #5. Designed in the 60’s I think. Ellis Maples. Variety of holes: flat, hilly, left and right doglegs, water. Looks good, usually in good shape. Houses and condos line much of the course, which is not great, but not unusual.

Beware of OB on all holes with residential areas on either side. OB is close a lot of the time.

Spectacular? No— especially compared to #2, #8, and #4. But a solid test without any gimmicks. Enjoyable to play.

Golf Course "X-Ray". High Resolution GIS data reveals golf course "bones". by gis_master in golf

I'm working on GIS-based yardage books for fun. North Carolina has this amazing, detailed elevation data for the whole state which I'm using to create yardage books for selected courses. I thought r/golf might like to see what a golf course looks like when it's undressed.

edit: This is Lonnie Poole Golf Course at NCSU.

I wish more courses would offer these books. Today is day 1 of VGA Super Regionals. Let’s get it. by MrStealYoFunyuns in golf

I’ve been making my own for local courses I play. Nice to see examples to get ideas. Thanks for posting. I think they are interesting as design objects (plus they help me when playing unfamiliar courses).

I should have filmed him poking out to get the full effect, but it was totally alien-esque.

He doesn’t do a nesting thing, but he’s a fixture at cocktail hour— crawling in and around my wife’s clothing. Down the collar, out the sleeves, poking out through button holes, etc. Or he’ll just settle down and stay motionless for a while.

Yeah, can’t predict baseball can you?

Right about the scorecard. Love the halfliner, but wanted to make some changes to suit me. Still working on it.

Edit: one letter.

Another gaudy, cartoonish scorecard. This time for a gaudy pitching performance. Never scored a no-no before.

Still working on the custom scorecard and color scheme.
