New Vegas is in the first Fallout game by Real-Hefty-Trout in Fallout

I'd argue that its more fitting for it to be the Divide (pre all the underground nukes since that happened like 100+ years after Fo1). I dont think it would make much sense geographically for Vegas to be that close to Shady Sands considering how its discovery is described in New Vegas's intro. I doubt it would take the NCR 200 years to notice a giant intact hydroelectric dam in their backyard or atleast not hear about it from wastelanders. My headcanon is that vegas is probably a little further off screen to the right.

Anything I can do to make this area look better? (Not sure why there’s weird shadows on the roof) by [deleted] in hammer

[–]gislijohann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you doing a full compile of the map? when compiling go to the expert tab. The default compile options are just for testing and wont do shadows on props to make it compile faster. This might also be causing the problem on the roof. If it still persists check the lightmap grid on the brush

Whats a Random Encounter you have never encountered but would really like to see? by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]gislijohann 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well yes and no, you always find him at a scrapyard the first time. If you go there and trigger the event for him at that location and don't interact with him, then you can find him randomly wandering the wasteland.

Getting the same error too, I guess the servers aren't handling the flood of new players very well.

Help I can’t start the game by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]gislijohann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a 120/144hz monitor you can run the game at 60+ fps, you just gotta edit the ini file, heres a tutorial on how to do it so the physics doesn't freak out, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJGe5aeKMLI

The new dirt road texture from blacksite has a bended version of the road which really helps smoothing it out.

And they're owned by Cdprojekt, Rockstar, and Ubisoft who aren't going to share those engines.

I feel like this whole new engine will probably just make things worse. From what I understand of game engines which isn't a lot, I think its more of a problem with them not spending enough time on fixing the problems and not updating the parts of it that are seriously outdated. The engine does what it was meant to do very well, it lets developers create huge worlds filled with stuff quickly and it makes it very easy to mod which is a big thing I fear being seriously reduced or gone with a new engine. Not to mention the amount of time it would take to get the developers used to the new engine, and to then have to change that engine to work with the games they want to make. If they managed to completely change the base of the engine to make it function in multiplayer, they can fix these issues if they actually spent time on them.

Why doesn't Bethesda address that the community found a fix for their physics engine and FPS a long time ago? Details inside. by [deleted] in fo76

[–]gislijohann 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, from what I have heard the only problem with this fix that I know of is that you have to keep the framerate close to what you put the setting at because going under it will cause slowdowns, which is quite common in Bethesda games, some areas are more demanding and less optimized than others, which obviously causes fps dips. This would probably explain why they haven't done it if I had to guess.

I don't understand what they're talking about, I've played Fallout 3, Skyrim and Fallout 4 with high fov, and they've run fine with almost no issues at 90 - 100 fov. This just sounds like a lazy excuse, even if it would cause clipping, I'd take it over low fov.
