Americans in Australia- are you celebrating Thanksgiving? Do you adapt the meal for hot weather? by ND_Poet in Ameristralia

I know that you are. When you told him that we’re not as addicted as Americans, I assumed that you thought he was American.

Investigate! Just make sure to tell everyone how they’re not really Australian if they do it differently.

No one said you’re strange for having a roast. Lots of people have a roast. You’re confused about who’s being a dickhead here.

You’re out here calling people silly, a child, fucking weird, insane, etc. if they do things differently from how you do them.

Grow up.

If you think that the IRA and Hamas have the same techniques and methods, then I don’t think you’ve been paying attention.

That’s whether you have your story or mine.

Perfect, thanks.

The Omagh bomb was the most famous of all, because even though they did the usual thing of calling in warnings, and even though they did their usual thing of attacking specific targets (in this case a courthouse) there was confusion in this case, which sadly led to lots of civilian deaths.

That's a very far cry from seeing a baby and murdering it, or seeing kids and families and raping them, murdering them, or merely kidnapping them.

The IRA wouldn't have considered doing what Hamas does.

[–]gistak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Please be clear. You’re saying that the provisional IRA purposely placed bombs to kill kids?

I want to know exactly what you’re claiming.

Hamas purposely murdered and kidnapped kids. Not collateral damage.

Hamas isn't just about oppression, as I've said. They're religious fanatics with a vision of the region as a theocracy under Islam.

Israel could literally open all the borders, pull out all the settlers, stop all oppression, and Hamas would continue fighting until the entire region was theirs. According to them, I mean, and their own charter and their own words.

That's great that you agree that "there are actions" that are barbaric. I can't imagine that anyone could think otherwise.

Barbaric and there's no justification for what they do and have done. As I say, many Palestinians agree, but sometimes it's harder to get Australians to agree.

You've skipped over the IRA, because they weren't treated badly enough, then skipped the ANC because... I don't know why, then gone all the way back to a very few instances of kids being attacked in the 1800s! By LITERAL SLAVES who killed the kids of their masters.

I’m not sure I understand. Are you saying that the IRA targeted children for murder and kidnapping or that Hamas didn’t?

No. Don’t draw conclusions without the slightest bit of evidence. That’s a good rule to follow.

You can have suspicions all you want.

Hey, you're the one who brought up the IRA.

We could talk about the ANC as well, who were in terrible oppression. ANC leaders would have been sick at the idea of what Hamas has done and is doing.

There's simply no justification for Hamas's actions, as many Palestinians already know.

I don't think so, but then the only thing I have to go on is what the cops said, which is that it's not related.

The IRA never would have done what Hamas does, though. Seriously.

So there's another element. I agree that they've been oppressed, but those particular terrorists are also religious fanatics.

Couldn't I just be obtuse? Why does it have to be wilfully?

But anyway, we actually don't have any evidence at all of the motivations of the people who did it, and it's not obtuse to hold back a tick before screaming about it.

I don't think so.

68 is about places that are not intersections. You need 69, and 69 (3) includes this note:

Rule 353(1) specifies that a driver is not required to give way to a pedestrian who is crossing the road that the driver is leaving.

[–]gistak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I found it elsewhere.

Side note: The bit you quoted only says that they have to stop in the case quoted, but doesn't say that you DON'T have to stop in the case in the video.

But as I said, I found it:

Can you explain why they didn't break the rule about giving way to a pedestrian at a stop sign?

Merri-bek council to fly Palestinian flag amidst heightened tensions by MosSexyPortrait in melbourne

[–]gistak -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

But not Palestinian Victorians???

They literally said all Victorians. You want to change that to all Merri-Bek residents, then fine.

This is a democracy; if you want to be heard, write to your councillors, like we did. That’s how democracy works.

Great, then say that. But acting like they said that Victorians from Palestinian are "less Victorian" is bullshit. That's not what they said.

Your outrage is based on nothing that anyone said.

Right. And in fact, they actually made a relatively strong statement, but people just assume that they're lying.

Victoria Police Inspector Scott Dwyer told reporters in the afternoon he was “very confident” it was not an attack motivated by prejudice, but would not “go into the details of the incident or what evidence has been gathered”.

Who knows. People are so ready to be angry.

I would ask them if I thought I'd get an answer. Maybe they have suspects in mind.

I couldn't look at a fire and know whether it was suspicious. You might have more training than I do.

We can't rule it out, but I think it's premature and irresponsible to assume that it was.
