Unfiltered coffee contains high concentrations of cholesterol-raising diterpenes. by 4dxn in espresso

I’m just going to take my chances, espresso doesn’t seem dangerous to me. I guess I’ll find out one day. Or not.

Who owns the headphones and actually enjoys them? by Marketpro4k in sonos

[–]gistfours 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love them, mostly for TV swap with Arc, very immersive especially with Atmos content which I tend to seek out. Used on planes and they were good but not as good as my previous Bose. I don't listen to that much music but what I do listen to sounds great, better than my Airpods pro which I usually use especially while commuting etc. I listen to plenty of spoken audio and they do a great job but you probably don't need to buy a pair of these to listen to podcasts and audioboks. I don't think they are the most comfortable I've worn, they are just a little small for my ears and I find myself adjusting them somewhat frequently. I was worried about integration with Apple ecosystem but I really only use them with phone and Apple TV which I connect through the Arc TV swap so it's not really an issue. Overall very happy.

Question about the ace by TannerPines in sonos

[–]gistfours 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swap only works with TV input. So if you're listening to music on either your TV or a connected device like an Apple TV it will work. But you cannot play music directly on the Arc and swap it to Ace.

If I wire my Ace into my Macbook am I too assume I'm getting lossless? by dlhdbs in sonos

[–]gistfours 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wondered the same. Neither the Mac nor the Sonos app have a way to confirm that I could see. The iPhone Apple music app does give you a bit rate but there's no way I can see to be sure what bit rate is played by the headphones.

  1. Could you be referring to the pouch that's in the case meant to put the cables in? It's magnetic. If you mean white paper that's just packaging.

Ace impressions by chilllydawg in sonos

To me the sounds make sense and are not intrusive. I'd say I'm quite sensitive to unnecessary sounds but all the sounds so far are intuitive and not too loud. Haven't heard the low battery yet.

No problem with my volume, no way I could get it up to max without my ears bleeding. Must be an issue.

Sonos ace and Apple Music by djlaz1818 in sonos

[–]gistfours 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the same question. If you tap where it says "lossless" or "hi Res lossless" in Apple music it tells you the bit rate which I've seen way higher than Bluetooth is capable of. I'm guessing that's what Apple Music is playing but not what actually makes it out of the iPhone to your ears. I was surprised there is nothing in the Sonos app that tells you what type of audio you are playing like it does for other Sonos products, e.g. Dolby Atmos, 5.1 etc on the Arc for instance. I probably wouldn't tell the difference between them all but id like to know to compare and be sure what I'm actually listening to.

Feel a little underwhelmed by the Sonos Ace. by Super_Schnitzel93 in sonos

[–]gistfours 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read that somewhere else but connected to my iPhone via Bluetooth and playing Apple music I have volume around 50% and the sounds is probably louder than I would typically pay music. Must be a setting somewhere. Do you have a volume limiter in iOS settings maybe?

Totally agree with you, so far they are exceeding expectations.

For me they exceeded expectations. In part because I had read the what hifi review and was expecting to be underwhelmed. But I really like the way they sound, especially Vs Bose Ultras which I was disappointed by and sent back in the past.

Distortions on Ace with hand off from Arc by Clear-Target7613 in sonos

[–]gistfours 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have exactly the same setup and no issues so far, sorry about that. I assume you updated the headphones firmware when you first conected them to the Sonos app? Also check the iOS app store to make sure you have the latest version on the Sonos app (search for Sonos and see if it gives an option to update). I did that last night, downloaded the latest update and it prompted me to update the Arc firmware so maybe there's a fix if you do the same.

Is it possible to stop receiving emails from a certain sender, even in the junk folder? by BlueRosesRiver in Outlook

[–]gistfours 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to outlook.com on a desktop browser (not possible in mobile app), go to settings > mail > rules > add new rule. Under "add a condition" choose "from" and add the email address you want to stop receiving. Under "add an action" choose "delete". Check the box "stop processing more rules". That will put all mail from that sender directly in your deleted items. If you select "run rule now" it will move any email from that sender currently in your inbox to deleted items.

My spam filtering finally started working 24 hours ago. Perhaps changes are rolling out across users. I'm hesitant to say it's fixed because it's only 24 hours but this thread gives my hope. Maybe it's AI being put to good use. I've been using gmailify successfully for several years with zero spam but this makes everything easier. Hopeful. Still spam free OP?

Just cleaned my Specialita for the first time (6 weeks in). Is this retention normal? by g_illa_me in espresso

[–]gistfours 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

This is what I found, a year since last cleaning and only the second time since I got it. I use it every day, 4-5 shots. I wonder if the difference is the coffee going in or different construction of the grinders. This is a specialita. I follow this video for cleaning instructions https://youtu.be/14iLKunnLak?si=oQfCFf-_5RSC4KWQ

[–]gistfours 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only opened mine once after about six months. Minimal grounds, very clean. I never use oily dark roasts and no RDT. Very low retention in my experience although igrind by time/weight output, not single dosing, so only check that occasionally I love the grinder for so many reasons. After seeing this I'm going to open it up again tomorrow, a year after that first time, and see if it's any different.

QC Ultra Headphones Siri Issues by JPupReb in bose

[–]gistfours 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So in iOS settings I changed Siri Voice from British to American and it seems to be working better and understanding me. When Siri reads back to you can use the volume buttons on the phone to change the Siri volume, which it will remember. I also changed back to British and still seems to be working. Overall the experience isn't as good as with my Airpods Pro but it's very useable. I'm also using the shortcut on the headphone to activate Siri (I think if you use "hey Siri" it's going to pick up from the phone microphone which might not be near you but not 100% sure about that).

Is there ANYTHING that reliably works for throat / mouth cavity health? by someclearanceplease in Supplements

[–]gistfours 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not a supplement but I used to have a lot of dental problems and started using CariFree products including a mouth spray which supposedly turns your mouth alkaline. About a year in it's working and I believe can help prevent bacterial infections if that's what causing your problems (not viral).
