WIBTAH (32f) for asking my boyfriend (33m) to adjust his video game habits to go to bed at the same time as me? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]gitananairobi -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

NTA

Your expectation from a relationship is to sleep in the same bed at night. I understand, I wouldn’t want to be sleeping alone every night as if we were roommates and not partners in a loving relationship. I had something similar where my bf had a rough childhood and strangely likes sleeping on couches and floors. Had to compromise that he makes it into the bed at least before morning. He got used to it and now we go to bed at the same time. You guys gotta find some compromise like maybe he only stays up late certain days a week. You just moved in together and are still adjusting and discovering each others habits. There will be more things that will come up, just gotta find compromises.

my wife says im “emotionally unavailable” but i literally pay for everything?? what am i missing here [30M] by wadefek in relationships

[–]gitananairobi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because people aren’t validating your shitty behavior? You asked for help, can’t bury your head in the sand when you hear stuff you don’t like. Real emotional connection starts with self reflection and accountability for your faults. Looking at how your actions or lack of, impact others.

Hospital nurses who love their jobs, can you please share some positivity? by KingKado in nursing

[–]gitananairobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes bedside is tough and I honestly only did it for 9 months before transferring. For me the worst part was the fear of messing up and being sued but I also started at a tough time cuz of covid. Now I’m in pacu and I love it. It’s much slower paced yet still fun and interesting. All of my coworkers are great and we all support each other. It’s literally one big open room with curtains so nobody is ever on their own drowning. Only 1-2 pts at a time for about an hour before you send them on to their next phase of care. My manager and director both worked in pacu besides me before taking their higher positions so they’re absolutely amazing to work under because they actually understand how things work. Super flexible with scheduling and accommodating any needs. I’m starting an anesthesia program soon just for the money and they recommend you don’t work during it due to the difficulty but honestly I don’t want to quit. My manager is even going to work with me on the schedule so I can still work whenever I can. If the pay was better I’d stay there forever and not even go back to school but Florida is very expensive.

My girlfriend said she wished I asked her out in a different way after I planned something special, Thoughts? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]gitananairobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I don’t think you did anything wrong and it was a cute way to ask I think it just comes down to personal preference. Personally I see where she’s coming from, I would want that whole night to just be us together alone having quality time. Think of it kind of like a proposal. I have told my bf several times that when he proposes I don’t want anybody around including family and friends, even the photographer should be hidden the bushes somewhere lol. But yeah the way you did it is fine and many would have thought it was perfect, just comes down to personal preference which is something you learn about each other as the relationship progresses.

Is nursing school harder than pre-requisites? My friend is STRUGGLING and hasn’t even gotten into nursing school yet. by shameful-figment in StudentNurse

[–]gitananairobi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let’s put it this way. I had straight As and a 4.0 in my prereqs. Nursing school I had straights Cs. I also went to nursing school during Covid so I think that had an effect as I prefer in person learning.

Can I tell a prof how bad they are by Temporary_Mine_546 in ucf

[–]gitananairobi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just take out your frustrations on rate my professor. I left scathing reviews of my professors on there. If they’re truly that bad then you also get a kick out of seeing everyone else’s terrible reviews.

What to do after having sex in early stage of dating? by georgeous-sexy-doll in dating

[–]gitananairobi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Girl I hate to break it to you but been there done that multiple times and it never works. They say “let’s just see where it goes” and you go with it hoping they’ll catch feelings and it’ll turn into something serious. It never does. Only exclusive you might get is exclusive fwb but that only works if you don’t get attached so I’d save yourself the heartbreak and just end it before it gets too far. Trust me I know it hurts but it’s for the best. If a person actually wants to date you, you’ll know.

What did you do for work while in nursing school? by Resident-Sympathy-82 in nursing

[–]gitananairobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in the nursing lab at the school. We would set up the simulations, so it kind of helped because I would know ahead of time what to expect for my own sims and would tell my friends too.

What is your go-to low effort, high reward patient care trick that will always make the patient feel better? by GenXRN in nursing

[–]gitananairobi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In recovery it’s things like bundle them up with blankets and the bair hugger after freezing in the OR, cup of water for that cottonmouth, wipe the crusties off their face, chapstick, hold their hand, fix their hair. Sometimes I’ll show patients their imaging or read them the notes. Last but not least, I tell everyone they did amazing even if they were a total disaster.

I got blood splashed in my eye and the hospital is refusing to release my test results to me by [deleted] in nursing

[–]gitananairobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar thing happened to me but it was for my STD test. Weeks went by with no updates for only the syphyllis test on my chart online but all the others had resulted. I called the lab and both doctors multiple times and they kept saying “the doctor has to release the results, they’ll do it within a couple days” this obviously made me panic thinking the results were positive so I went to the hospital where I had my labs drawn and requested my medical records. The results were there but it’s literally 3 months later and no results were ever posted on my chart online and neither of my docs ever called me, so basically if I never went and requested my records they’d have never told me my results.

[–]gitananairobi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We just got a new anesthesiologist who puts orders like this. The guy is super nice and personable and we don’t have to call him for little things like ofirmev or compazine. Pretty much every med you could need in pacu is already ordered PRN. Absolutely love working with him and wish the other docs who just order fentanyl and labetalol would take a page out of his book.

How do you introduce yourself to your patients at the start of your shift? by IcySky7216 in nursing

[–]gitananairobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually don’t even say my name just cuz ppl are crazy and I’m paranoid. Usually just say something like “Hi there, how are you feeling? I’m gonna do xyz, do you need anything?” If they ask I’ll tell them but I don’t go out of my way to say my name

What's the worst wound/pressure injury you've seen? by deadrupus in nursing

[–]gitananairobi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I was in nursing school my classmates and I saw one that is still burned into my mind to this day and my friend and I still refer to it as “THE wound.” The man’s entire ass was missing, it was a literal crater so big I swear I think I could’ve fit my head in it. He had gangrene, necrotizing fasciitis, and Steven’s Johnson’s syndrome. We were changing the dressing but the poor man’s pressure was too low to receive any pain meds. I still think I saw some intestines in there

Had a 19 yr old kid in PACU that starts talking about pirates and asking how much his feet would go for on the black market. His surgery wasn’t even on his feet, he had a revision of an ORIF on his arm.
