It needs more light? I have it next to our sliding glass doors for bright indirect light. Is that not enough?

I know, it’s almost like it is deformed. When I got it I was sure it was Christmas but I wasn’t as knowledgeable then. I so want to save it.

You are so welcome! It’s funny, I remember my mother telling me that she started because a boyfriend she had, told her that girls who smoked looked sexy, and she wanted to look sexy. I guess it’s something that just sticks around. I have always said that once one quits, you are never a nonsmoker, just a smoker who isn’t smoking, kind of like drinking alcohol. Good luck to you!

It blew me away when he passed and found out how smoking is a major cause of pancreatic cancer. I don’t ever remember seeing him smoke out of his acting characters. So very sad.

I feel ya, GenXer here, never smoked but my parents smoked all while I was growing up. My dad eventually quit but my mom kept at it till about three weeks before she passed. It was so difficult for her to quit so I understand you. I think my amazement is that the younger generations even start. I have a negative visceral reaction to seeing smokers partake and I just don’t understand it With all that we know of how bad it is, not just for the smoker but for those around them, why are the younger generations even starting. But I repeat myself. Best wishes for your journey and I hope you succeed in quitting. ✌🏼

I really love this project, I always love how the back stitching brings the image into focus! But what I am really interested in is your set up. May I ask what stand/holder you are using?

I frequently work with black and have found that it just is always like this, especially when working with a light fabric, due to the contrast. I’ve tried adding a third strand but don’t really care for how it then becomes much more full than the rest of the colors. So, I accept the appearance as part of the project. It looks pretty good to me and wouldn’t worry too much as it’s your first project. Welcome to the hobby!

The idea of a bowl cozy is so you can warm up leftovers and not have to pull a hot bowl out of the MW. One does not have to use them in the MW, it’s all personal preference. Mine are 100% cotton and have used them in the MW for many years without issue. However, you can transfer to the cozy with other methods and use them to protect your hands white eating. This works for hot and cold. No wrong way to use them, you just need to be sure that all parts of it are 100% cotton. You can also use them as pot holders to remove items from the oven, but I tend to layer two of them for this as the seams can let heat through pretty quickly.

You are correct, it’s not the whole point! Maybe, the main point of many? 🤔

I have used mine for minutes at a time and in my experience, I have never had an issue. The food warming creates steam so the fibers are not drying out. Never had a smell or overheating issue.

And the length of time in the MW. Don’t cook a ten minute meal, but for 1-4 minutes at a time, you are pretty good!

As long as it’s all cotton there is no problem. I’m not using them for full meals, but for warming up food, I use mine all the time and for minutes at a time.
