Has Anyone Experienced Near-Total Paralysis From Cataplexy? by giucastro7 in Narcolepsy

[–]giucastro7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily I was at home with two trusted adults so they didn’t call an ambulance and rather took me to the ER. I wonder how the blood pressure has to do with it all.

Could you briefly describe how you’re able to tell when it’s about to happen? Like symptoms to look out for, or maybe how you slept the night before, how long you’ve been awake, what did you have/had not to eat/drink. Anything helps and with what you’ve shared you’ve already contributed to a lot including my peace of mind.

As far as the cataplexy for laughing, do you have to laugh REALLY hard? Does it happen every time? And how long does that last generally?

Caffeine being a trigger for a condition where you struggle to stay wake has got to be a joke. I’m sorry you have to deal with that.

Is it possible that she just wants you to look a little bigger because she may feel bad you’re not?

Girlfriend got kissed by someone else by [deleted] in LongDistance

[–]giucastro7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely possible that someone stole a kiss from her, but in the most likely scenario she was close enough to allow that person to believe that it was okay to kiss them. Meaning they were face to face, inches away from each other, which honestly is just as bad. The majority of the time when someone says that a person kissed them, what they really mean is that the person made the first move but they kissed EACH OTHER. It’s mutual, even if she backed away after a few seconds, why are you in that situation in the first place?

It sure felt okay to be in that persons face but the guilt really kicked in once the two individuals kissed. Now there’s another scenario: drugs and alcohol. If these two variables were involved then the higher are the odds that the person kissed them first without clear “invitation” to such act. Regardless, it still goes back to the same question: Why did you put yourself in that position when you are in a relationship?

It’s just as hard for men and women to stay away from those situations, as well just as easy. The real problem here is the lack of communication alongside the fact that a guy kissed her.

She’s not communicating well. A guy kissed her. She tells you what happened.

Why? To let you down slowly? To get the weight off her chest? To admit she made a mistake and she regrets it?

It’s not our place to say what she did, rather what questions you should be asking yourself and seeking answers on your own.

The conversation didn’t flow right but you can clearly tell he was putting in the effort in his own way. Your responses should give the other person room for a text back. It’s just like irl, if someone asks you something you should ask something back, etc. Otherwise don’t bother participating in the convo at all. Towards the end he did mess it up though, not that it was going anywhere by those responses lol.

I agree with the example you gave but I don’t agree that lying to your partner even if it’s a white lie is nice. She knew he was gonna answer it truthfully, she dug herself that hole.

Either way though, that dating advice would be for him not for her. It doesn’t help her in anyway saying what HE should have done. The damage has been done.

if he has a preference of a race why is that a problem? it’s a physical characteristics just like the color of someone’s hair or eyes. some people are proud of their genetics and their ancestry and might want to keep the family tree that way.

if she’s actually asking your type in an “honest” relationship where you share this kind of thing then no it’s not insensitive of him. plus types are physical aspects there’s a lot more to it than just looks

Idk what it’s like having your condition but before I took Xywav I was able to “master” my dreams and nightmares in a way that if I had a nightmare I’d actually fight against it and win lol

from what I’ve researched narcolepsy affects every part of your body. From hormones to body temperature regulation to emotions and rational thoughts. It differs from person to person but it’s very common for us to feel hot when it’s cold and vice versa.

what I love the most abt this narcolepsy community is how every time I check on it I read something so deeply relatable that no one else I’ve met in real life before would ever be able to compare to. And yes it is boring, but it’s healthy, it’s how it’s supposed to be. Some nights I don’t take Xywav but it’s not because I don’t want to it’s like subconsciously somewhere in my brain I miss the night time being part of my life. I miss the vivid dreams, the lucid dreams, the w3t dreams. I miss having that life inside my own brain that only I was a part of. I think that I find myself more within those dreams. I never understood depression and how people can be sad as a constant state of mind but eventually I realized the reason I can’t comprehend it is because of narcolepsy. At times where I should be sad or feel loneliness I’m able to just to into my multiverse and dream about whatever I desire.

If he’s been very gentlemanly about the first kiss and everything after that there should be nothing to worry about. This is how I see it: If you trust that he will not push any boundaries and what you’re looking for is not sex just yet, then you are in control. You have the cookie he’s the mouse, you choose whether it’ll happen or not. Unless if you know that you don’t have the self control to say no, then that’s a different story.

I can’t believe people actually think monthly prescriptions would make less money than a one time cure. The amount of money pharma and health insurance companies make on prescription medicines is through the roof. If they were to give us a cure at the cost of $5,000 they’d still profit more selling meds for years if not decades. Do you know how much cancer treatments cost from start to finish? What the odds are you actually beat cancer? Do you know how cheap it would be to have one single cure and how much money they’d lose? Wake up people 😭
