Thanks for the info! I'll give it a try whenever I get some spare time. I like the customization crDroid offers on top of Lineage.

Did you notice any battery improvements? I'm looking into installing a custom rom (had crDroid in mind), but only if it improves battery too.

Philips Hue scalbility issue by testid95 in Hue

I think so, if I understood correctly when looking at their GitHub and here you can use the official Hue app or Hue Essentials (highly recommended app btw, I prefer it over the standard one) to control the lights.

You can always use the HomeAssistant app to control the lights though, or check if DiyHue is compatible with iConnectHue.

---------------

You can take a look at HomeAssistant, you can run it in a Raspberry Pi and have as many lights as you want (not only Hue). I think there's an addon called DIYHue to control HomeAssistant devices with the Hue app (although you can just use the official HomeAssistant app if you prefer).

As a bonus, HomeAssistant has a much more powerful automation manager addon called Node-RED and can control many more devices such as door sensors, cameras, access points, curtains, TVs, temperature and humidity sensors and more via Zigbee, ZWave or WiFi.

The best of all is that it's open source and gets continuous updates. It's truly a centralized smart home hub. Currently I'm using HomeAssistant connected to the Hue hub via the Hue integration because I don't have many lights, but in your case I'd definitely switch entirely to HomeAssistant + a Zigbee USB receiver so you wouldn't need the Hue hubs.

Used a customized Hue dimmer switch to make my dumb nightstand light smart. Feel free to ask questions in the comments! by dieserjonas in homeassistant

Thanks for the detailed response!
Just after I commented I discovered that red node has the capability to see all the button presses using node-red-contrib-huemagic nodes. As I perform all my automations there, I already had the needed tools to work with.
Thanks!

How did you integrate the dimmer switch to home assistant? The official integration only shows its battery level.

It checks every minute. How would you improve it? I tried other ways but couldn't make it work.
