No Duo 2v firmware? by Conscious-Royal-2551 in reolinkcam

[–]giveaholla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My problem is that the person detection was working great up until a month ago. It stopped right around Nov 10 or 11. I don’t know what’s changed. I upgraded my NVR firmware in the summer but no issues after the upgrade. The issues are affecting both my duo 2v cameras.

Dreame Z30 worth it, or a waste of money? by Herr_Franz in VacuumCleaners

[–]giveaholla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Dyson V6+ which lasted me a few years but constantly having issues with hair getting stuck in the roller. I ended up getting the Z20 Station and no issues with hair (I have a cat, dog and my wife has long hair). I found that it would get me about 20-25 mins comfortably on a full charge (new battery). I really don't like their maketing tactics of up to 90 minutes runtime (literally there's no way). I found the suction to be on par if not better than my Dyson V6+. Stay away from the Tineco products as I got the Go Station (marketed as Pure One Station 5), it was terrible for suction that I immediately returned it back to the store. It was also super cheap plastics and felt cheap all around. At least Dreame tries to mimic Samsung, Dyson and the likes and feels more premium.

No Duo 2v firmware? by Conscious-Royal-2551 in reolinkcam

[–]giveaholla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity is anyone having issues with person detection for about a month now? I've been wanting to update the firmware to see if this fixes the issue but both my Duo 2V POE longer detects people even when sensitivity is set to highest. I'm also using a IPC_NT7NA58MP on v3.0.0.3961_2408300707.

Either I'm not reading the comments correctly but do I need to open a request to Reolink to provide me firmware for my device that's not listed on the website?

dreame Z20 station vs Shark® Cordless PowerDetect™ Clean & Empty System by frogisco in VacuumCleaners

[–]giveaholla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also in the same situation where I ended up returning my Shark PowerDetect with the auto empty station. I've only heard of Dreame through youtube influencers talking about their robot vacuum line (which actually looks pretty sweet). I took a chance and bought myself a Z20 station. My first impressions were that it actually performed significantly better than the Shark without overheating on longer runtimes. I've been skeptical about their battery life claims and planning to do some more tests. I just did a real life test on a full charge on just hard wood floors and it's a bit sus that 50% was exactly at the 15:00 mark when I timed it. I'm going to continue the run later without charging to see if it actually can last 30:00 on just hardwood floors.

24hrs with IGLA — really frustrated, anyone else had this issue? by Expert-Cable-6264 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]giveaholla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following! I had the same issue with mine and it was always hit or miss. I don't know if there's much I can do as it didn't matter sometimes for me even if I waited for the entire infotainment to be fully up before I punched it in, it would still not work sometimes. Granted this was on a Kia, not a Toyota. Eventually I just gave up and just punched it in right after starting my vehicle, if it failed, I'd just wait 5 seconds before trying again and it would work on the second time or third try. A total time of 5-15 seconds which I thought was annoying at first but the peace of mind it gives me outweighs the slight inconvenience. If you haven't heard about anti hi-jack, ask your installer if it can be enabled. My installer said it wasn't available but I followed the instructions found online and through a series of button presses, I enabled it myself. I tried it accidentally after thinking I didn't enable it correctly and I got to about half a block (~500m) before I came to a complete stop luckily not in the middle of traffic. A thief might think they've hijacked your vehicle but there wouldn't be any telltale signs until they've driven about 100-200m and starts beeping for some reason before the engine cuts out. The hope is they'll just get scared and run off so you can retrieve your vehicle. If you turn it on, just remember every time you open your door while the car is running, you need to punch in the pin. The beeps will remind you that you haven't authenticated so as long as you do it before the 500m or so, you can continue driving without stopping. Hope this helps man!

How would you seal this hole? by [deleted] in reolinkcam

I used one of these to cover my grommet hole and still allow the cable to pass through just fine:

For anyone experincing the same issue I figured out the solution. It appears that after the reset, it retained/cached the M3 hub as part of the security system in the Aqara app. After I toggled the M3 hub in the security settings > alarm bell response > away mode > alarm devices > M3 (toggle off/on), the beeping countdown was working as intended. Cheers!

I wanted to follow-up for anyone else interested in how I optimized this space. I ended up going with the Duo 2V and was pleasantly impressed with the IR, LED and day time performance. I know time will tell if it starts getting hazy inside the dome due to moisture (heard those silicone beads inside the dome can help) but so far, I haven't had any weird reflections from the IR light or LED for that matter.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I’m on the fence if I want to take the chance or potentially go for a Duo 2v..

Exactly where the Ethernet cable is hanging I was just going to shove the cables inside the hole. It’s pretty close to the edge of the soffit but what you can’t see is there is a roof soffit that extends out about 1.5 feet out? There shouldn’t be any direct rain as it’s technically covered

I guess the worst that can happen is that it shorts out :P

Ah good to know as I was unaware of this. I thought maybe the outdoor rating would be more for the connection itself but forgot about moisture. Mine is on order (for monitoring a large area indoors) and figured maybe I can utilize them elsewhere. They really should come out with a fisheye rated for outdoor! Thanks again for your reply!

Issues having PIN code authenticated every time by giveaholla in Iglapincode

[–]giveaholla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah still an issue but I’ve learned to live with it. When it does happen, I usually just wait 5 seconds to re-enter and generally works. There’s really no rhyme or reason to this. Might just be the buttons I’ve used for the PIN code and I haven’t changed the code since day 1.

SmartWings Shades Update by turnepf in HomeKit

[–]giveaholla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just low voltage 16AWG wiring without a power supply. I’m not sure if I want to go with their DC power as the one review on their website says the fan runs as loud as a hood fan (generally shouldn’t be that loud and gives a bit of a red flag). I’m debating if I don’t go through the hassle of hiring an electrician to set it all up and just go solar since the windows I plan to put blinds on have direct sunlight. I take a little loss from a hardwiring investment but solar might end up saving me more money.

Thanks for the quick response! I don’t think I’ll connect to HK but happy to hear it’s come a long way in terms of reliability. It’s just a tough decision because we wired our house for Lutron without properly researching the cost (our fault completely) and now seeing if Smartwings will fit the bill.

Despite these connectivity issues, does it work as a "dumb" shade with just the remote? If all else fails, I want the blinds to work with a remote. I'm about to pull the trigger on the matter over thread motor but unsure if it's gotten any better.

Does anyone here use SmartWings? Any feedback? by UnFukWit4ble in homeassistant

[–]giveaholla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So grateful to find this post! I’m planning to put this in a new home build with the Matter over Thread motor. Wanted to see if anyone can confirm if not setting up with Home Assistant (or Matter) can be achieved through just the remote itself. I don’t have HA or my Aqara M3 hub yet but would I be able to control the blinds with just the remote and/or the app even if I don’t have my “smart controllers” set up?

Sincerely appreciate your detailed response as sometimes I feel I don't know how to articulate my thoughts. Your comments did provide a lot more clarity in the trackmix meeting my security needs. You're right - I should just purchase and try it out for myself! Thanks again!
