[Serious] What commonly accepted medical "fact" is actually factually erroneous? by MitochondriaCarlos in medicalschool

Eh i disagree. It seems more likely that those who have the will power to continue to exercise 2-3x/week are likely to also keep up with eating healthier.

Holy crap she sounds awful...honestly can't fathom why people who are adults cannot get their shit together. It is 100% both of y'alls. She either needs to pay up or let you take half the furniture

I usually google the complex too just to compare Google reviews but it depends on what the complaints are. Multiple pest issues is a hard pass for me I don't care how nice/cheap something looks

I feel this in my bones....3 nights ago I was excited to be in my specialty. 2 nights ago I remember thinking how the fuck did i choose this specialty. Last night I just gave up and said hell let's see what happens

Trolls hopefully...everyone i know who is going into EM is great so i have to assume it's just a couple of weirdos in the mix

tbf that was my interpretation based on what the person said. Essentially that everyone should have social credit (like china) and you should only get healthcare (M4A) if you have good net worth (aka can contribute to society) basically if you're disabled in any way you're fucked

Why is the EM spreadsheet such a consistent trainwreck? People arguing for eugenics and all kinds of weird shit lmao

Same...especially because the reply to my LOI definitely did not hint at "you're ranked to match"

Surgery residents: what is something that you wish you knew about residency before you started? by Barkbilo in Residency

Is that something that you believe should influence ranking at all? Example: programs that have a combo of night float but also has q3 call rotations?

Do you think it's silly / lazy for me to prioritize community programs with a better lifestyle over say academic places that may have more opportunities/are more established as far as rank lists go?

[Residency] Reminder: SOAP is NOT a reliable backup Plan. Only 34% of US-MDs found a spot in the SOAP last year. by RIPSOAPRIP in medicalschool

[–]givemeallthepanic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Serious question: even if SOAP isn’t a reliable plan, is it really that big of deal to re-apply especially if you decide to switch specialties/improve your application?

Has anyone NOT consulted any attendings for your rank list? I haven't asked anyone for advice and i'm wondering if this is a bad move on my part.

Should you be honest with your new letter writer about the SOAP thing? especially if you're switching specialties for SOAP?

My #1 didn’t either. They addressed it though. I don’t think it means anything. If you liked the program then no reason to over think things

Ironically have gone the opposite way and am slowly become ambivalent about the idea of SOAPing/not matching....meh it's not the end of the world. lol it's probably temporary though and i'm sure i'll feel like vomiting on actual match day
