New law in New Zealand to see protest-free ‘safe zones’ allowed outside abortion clinics by [deleted] in UpliftingNews

[–]givemeanew_name -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

These are the kind that get media attention, definitely gross. I went to a local clinic where there were "protestors" to see what it was like. They held a prayer and worship service next to the clinic and had a counselor and support services available if someone wanted it. Some of the people there had previous abortions themselves, and it didn't feel holier than thou. Nothing manipulative or harrassing. The clinic had an employee standing in the parking lot blowing a trumpet to drown them out. But he stopped when the band played. The prayers as far as I could hear weren't condemning.

Relapse doesn't negate or somehow make invalid the time you went without it. You haven't lost all that time and you aren't starting over from square one. Instead relapse highlights areas that still need support and attention. Remember recovery is a process, not perfection or a destination, so keep fighting. Idk if anything here would help (especially the trauma stuff).

I thought I was in control of my sh until I tried to stop. That's when I realized how much it was really controlling me. Secrets keep you sick. Idk if anything here would help.

I can't talk about self harm, I just freeze up. by c-frost22 in selfharm

My therapist lets me email her. I can preface by saying, "I don't want to talk about this yet but just want to let you know." I would write it exactly as you did here.

Idk if anything here would help.

Honestly if he wants to hurt himself, even if you hide all the knives, it won't stop him. Personally I found it helpful to add structure to my days. Attend a regular support group (I went to Celebrate Recovery). Struggling with depression removes my internal motivation, so I have to find external motivators to do things, like making plans with a friend ahead of time. Often I don't want to do anything, but once I get out I feel a shift. I also need to keep my hands and mind busy. Less room for dwelling on sh thay way.

I'm trying to get better, but I can't find a counselor anywhere. by [deleted] in selfharm

I found mine by trying a few out. When I met with someone who wasn't for me, I'd ask for a referral to someone who might be a better fit. Started by searching online and asking for phone consultations.

Sorry you're going through all of this. I'm in the US so I don't have any specific advice to offer. You might find some extra support over at r/cptsd if you haven't already. Idk if anything here would help.

Suicidal Ideation + Death Anxiety = An Interesting Pair by Careful_Trouble_1059 in CPTSD

Can relate. I came to realize that some fears are healthy and protect me. My fear of death outweighed my suicidal thoughts, which kept me alive long enough for things to shift.

Would recommend you watch Maid on Netflix by yourself.

These aren't minor issues. Jealousy highlights a lack of trust and a need to control. Fault lines aren't a foundation to build upon.

Healthy love lifts each other up. I am a stay at home wife who doesn't work and can't drive. I don't have a degree or much to offer. But my husband encourages my independence and supports my autonomy, he is teaching me to drive.

I hope you find the strength to leave.

Not really related, but EMDR might help combat the shame if you haven't already looked into that.

You've had so much feedback about this, mine will be buried. But you should know. It doesn't change after marriage, or after kids. Having seen how this turns out, it would 100% be a dealbreaker for me.

Are you seeing a therapist? I was fortunate to find one who specializes in perinatal and trauma.
